First DVD

Postby Johnny Wizz » Jul 28th, '05, 13:13

I am about to order my first Card Magic DVD. Any opinions as to which of Oz Pearlman Born To Perform and Michael Ammars Easy To Master Vol 1 would be my best buy?

I am learning from RRTCM at the moment, can do Backslip Force, Hindu Shuffle force, DL,, Glide, and some other bits. None to performance standard yet (except familly) but all enough to practice in a trick.

Please CUPS sufferers, I cannot afford both this month as there are a couple of other goodies I am looking to get!

I'd say Born To Perform. I don't own any of the ETMCM series, so I can't really comment, but from what I've heard they're just a collection of good tricks, whereas Born To Perform has some BRILLIANT effects, but also covers all the basic and not-so-basic abilities you need to have - from grips and breaks all the way to some cool flourishes and fans...definitely my vote's for Born To Perform>

I have both, and although I'd hands-down recommend Ammar as a SERIES, you'll get far more value for money from Born To Perform.

Good luck!

Ammar is a great teacher, maybe the best one, and the two dvd you name are very good without doubt.
But for a beginner, IMHO, maybe is better OZ. There are more tecniques to study and 4 tricks absolutely strong and visual.
But next month buy ammar too :D :D

P.S. in the ETMCM i prefer volume TWO

I actually like both. But you may want to start with Born To Perform and move on to collecting the Ammar series

Thanks all. I have ordered Born To Perform. Between the reviews and these comments it seems like a good stepping stone. I have also ordered Beyond ESP. I thought the review was really impressive and I like to mix my magic a bit.

Anybody work with Tarot cards at all??

Johnny

Could you let me know how long it takes you to receive Born To Perform? I've had this on order since early July from Penguin Magic with no sign of it arriving yet. :( I am going to give them until mid August when my bank statement comes PM me if possible

Thanks

A guy called Blackhart offers normal (and gaffed) Tarot cards with associated routines via his website http://www.blackhart.co.uk/page21.html

I am a little concerned because I ordered Born To Perform from Penguin and beyond ESP from Magicbox at the same time yesterday. I have received my confirmation from Magicbox but nothing from Penguin.

I have always found Magicbox to be super efficient but this is my first experience of ordering from Penguin.

What is there delivery like normally?
