A free trick?

Postby DaveOrdref » Aug 4th, '05, 12:29

This is something I cooked up a while ago and if anyone's interested then here we go:

I am giving my psychic tester for free

what is it:

You will need:
 The Psychic tester program (This should Include Magic.dll)
 A Computer with a mouse and keyboard and monitor
 A Subject (to test on)
 Mad Scientist Wig, Crystal Ball (optional)
1. Make sure the subject is sitting comfortably
2. Turn back to the subject
3. Subject picks a thing and can change the position of each button if the subject
thinks you are doing the trick by looking at the mouse position.
4. Transmitting screen shows up with sound
5. When the sound has stopped Psychic turns and guesses the colour
6. Colour is guessed correctly 100% of the time!!!

This is from the 10 page manual which I tried to fill with nice pictures and so on

Why am I doing this:

Because I want to see how others like it. If it's a horrible trick then that is fine I just want some criticism on this effect.

the password is currerntly "Night432Shade" (caps sensitive)

thanks

The "sound" is a bit grating. I can see why it's used, though. The only minor hiccup, is that I noticed the lights when I did it, but I'm sure not everyone would get it, and I highly doubt they'd figure it out by seeing them turn on.

Other than that, the effect is actually pretty cool. Nice little piece of mentalism you have there.

I LOVE the idea of using the lights to communicate a choice - very nice and easy. We have a separate keyboard for our laptop, which means that I can leave the keyboard plugged in and see the lights without even being near the keyboard.

Great effect and I'm sure that if you tidied up the program a bit you could market it commercially.

I like it. My wife's asleep so I'll practice tonight and show her tomorrow. She's my guinea pig so and she hates it when she can't figure it out.

I did try to get a nice random beeping sound to the program and sometimes when I try it it does it again. I don't know why I think I might want to fix it though

anyway thanks

Ok any other comments?

I'll change the password tomorrow if you want to try this trick yourself and want the password then PM me

at the moment I haven't changed my password

(attention Mods: I know this is double posting but just giving some news on the trick)

PS to those who know Michael Kleber's card trick then I am doing a program for this trick.
It's more or less done and I will be releasing it to the public (but not giving out the secret  )

Whilst this may sound slightly silly....

If you could export this to people`s cellular phones (I am not sure exactly how you would do this though  ) You would have a killer effect which you can literally take with you anywhere!

Just an idea.

I had an Idea to do this with mobile but I don't think it would be possible unless I think of a clever way to...

No don't think it's possible (those who know the trick might know why)

Why are just anyone just asking for the password?

For this you need proof that you really are a magician.

someone missed the point in this and just thought that they just need to join and do one post to get the password

I might be changing it in a few days

(though I am worried that people might be passing it around. Mabye I should have thought twice before making it freeware)
