I cant seem to find a definite answer from the forums. Some say the raven is worth it and others say its not. I kno i can search but i cant make up my mind if or if not to buy it

I am just a beginner to magic..started 2 weeks ago and readign the forums i think i kno how the raven works but i dont know if i can post it here. Can someone PM me on how it works and their opinion on the raven.

No, and there's no point asking as nobody's going to tell you.

I would recommend that you not turn to this type of gimmick yet in your coin magic. You really should learn some basics - retention vanishes, false transfers, and so on.

You can do some amazing coin magic without gimmicks - try Sankey's Mr Clean Coins Across, on his TVBO vol.3 tape or Secret Files vol.2.

The final word on the Raven  you REALLY do not need it, trust me, i am sure other CPs here will tell you. You can learn great vanishes without the need for such a gimmick.

The universal Raven is different (we cannot say why!) and has had bad reviews, my old Raven now gathers dust on the shelf

The reason some reviews say it is worth it and some say it is not is because there is no definitive answer to that. For some people it is great, for others it is terrible. The only thing that is certain is that you don't NEED one. I agree with everyone else, don't bother with one so early in your magic career, there are much better ways you could spend your money.

What do Paul Daniels , Lance Burton, Jeff McBride, David Blaine and others have in Common?

Answer: they ALL started learning sleight of hand magic using BOOKS :!:

If you want to know how it works then guess how it could be made.

I did and I got a pretty rubbish gimmick I RARELY use.

it's a nice thing you can show off with your friends but vanishes like that can be done WITHOUT the gimmick

You should get Bobo's Modern Coin Magic any way. It's amazing value, there are so many great handlings etc. I wouldn't say it is that difficult for beginners, also I think it's good to start reading it so you can get an idea of how stuff is done etc.

Hey there!

My personal opinioun on the Raven, tends to agree that it is not one of the greatest coin vanishes for the money you are probably going to pay for it. Ive used it in a few clubs (booming music and a darker atmosphere usually gets a good reaction from me mystically waving my hand a few centimetres above the coin) but concentrate on the sleights. The Raven's a nice thing to have and use from time to time, but if you can master the sleights your well on your way to giving Gandalf a good bit of competition.

Hope this helps ;)

When i first got the raven it was very cool, just wave your hand over a coin and its gone. You show it to everybody you know, then .... that's it.

To put good use to the raven you need to learn some sleights and build a coin routine with some vanishes and productions. To finish the routine the raven can be useful to leave you totally clean after the final vanish. But if you are good with sleights you can probably end clean without it.

My raven lies in a box somewhere, haven't used it in ages.

I wood recommened to learn 'The Revoloution' on Ellusionist. I watched the demo video and it blew my mind!! I don't know how its done, but I don't think it uses any gimmicks and it leaves you totally clean
