Ring Flight

Postby Hodgkinson » Aug 21st, '05, 22:44

I have been thinking of getting a ring flight effect for some time and I am unsure which to get.
I have been drawn to the ImMakulate Ring Flight or Rinkey Dinkey.
I am unsure about the Mak version due to the key case. How many people carry their keys in a key case like this. I am sure it would immediately arouse suspision as it is not a common object and with me being a very stocky blokey bloke why would I be carrying such an effeminate object anyway.
Rinkey Dinkey on the other hand would not look out of the ordinary but I have read several reviews which say it is very noisy and poorly made.
Should I limit myself to one of these two or does anyone know of another clean ring flight which does not make too much noise or look like something which should be kept in a handbag ?

I have rinkey dinkey and it can be a problem sometimes. If you have a good budget then you may want to consider the Joe porper version, it sells for around £110.00 but comes with a special key that is worth £65.00. I have borrowed a friend's one and loved it so much that i am ordering one :P

JB magic sell it and i am sure many dealers do or get it from Joe direct

I was also considering a ring flight trick too. I think I am going to go ahead with Rinkey Dinky dispite some of the poor reviews. It is the cheepest one I am aware of and most of the time I perform it is fairly noisy anyway.

If you ever get the chance, try getting Harry Baron's "Magic For Beginners" (Amazon UK = http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 42-3465200 Amazon US (With my small review) = http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... ce&s=books)

There is one ring flight trick in that book, which I use constantly, but its quite different from the usual ring flights advertised on the internet. In this one, you borrow a ring, and put it in a transparent glass, or let an audience member put it in, and then the glass is covered with a handkercheif. You then show a wand lying on the table, and hand it to the audience member, and to hold it from the ends, and cover the center with another handkercheif. The glass and the audience member can be as far away as you want. Another spectator shakes the glass one last time, and the "clink" is heard very distinctly. On the count of three, both hankercheifs are removed, and the glass is found empty, whereas the ring now is on the wand, held between the spectator's finger tips.

This is one of my favorate tricks, and uses a very simple gaff, very easily made at home. The effect that it delivers is amazing.

Help!!!!

Postby JD » Jul 5th, '07, 22:19

I know this is an old thread but I'm restarting it... hopefully.

Does anyone know if there is a decent ring flight out there???

I had Houdini's ring flight but thought it was too noisy and the gimmick didn't reach that far (not even to my back pocket) so that got sold.

Also bought Exit by Pete Eggink but was disappointed with that too.

Rinky Dinky looks ok as its a key not a key wallet but I've heard bad things about it!

Imakulate (?) looks ok but very similar to the Houdini one and then theres Pegasus!!!! But are any of them any good, ie smooth-working and quiet!?! Argh!!!

Someone above has recommended Joe Porpers version which is pricey but if it was something I would use all the time, I don't mind forking out!

Dunno what the 'special key' thing is all about.

So if anyone can shed some light on which (if any) version is best I would be your best friend for ever!!

Thanks... :D

THE BEST Ring Flight on the market is Richard Sanders' Interlace, in which the ring vanishes and INSTANTLY reappears tied to the performer's shoelace. If this isn't the type of thing you are looking for, then I recommend Sharp-ring. A little noisy but good for larger settings.
