Criss Angel has been talked about before and it would havebeen better if you had not started another thread but I like him, he is a very good magician IMHO, but ppl say he tends to use camera tricks. HEre are some links to discussions about him before..

No. Don't like him much. He's good. REAL GOOD. I give him that. But he lacks something. Like awhile back I saw three of David Blaine's specials in a magic week marathon. And dude  I was impressed. David's probably the reason why I became a magician. But there's a style that Chriss has that I just don't agree with. Maybe its the thought of him potraying himself as a Fallen Angel with whacked out powers.

Yeah David Blaine had/has this good mysterious thing going on leaving the spectator thinking "could this be real?!", he kind of just lets them think he has real powers, whereas Chris Angel has taken it too far. Of what I have seen of his tricks they are pretty good but I just don't get that good feeling about watching him that I did with David Blaine. I'm not left wanting to see more Chris Angel after the show.[/i]

I am indifferent to this guy. I have seen some really good effects that he has done but some of them I just though they did not really work. I will be interested to see his new MindFreak series when it comes out over here. Perhaps after that I will be able to make a better opinion.

Have to give the guy credit though. He is on TV, he is making it. Kudos to him for that.

Nice try Chris Angel but................................

Postby jrg9662 » Sep 23rd, '05, 14:34

If you watched him levitate a girl on Freemont St. in Las Vegas when she is standing and talking her shirt at the waist in the back is loose fitting and you can see it away from her body. When he levitates her this area becomes tight and agianst her back. This leaves me to believe that something is holding her up and that the audience is in on it to accomplish whatever he needs to do to "suspend" her in the air. Good try chris........He is scamming his way to stardom just like any other Illusionist. I would not pay a cent to see them.

Dammit, I guess I have just wasted all the money spent on chalk, candles and spell books then.

so, jrg - are you saying that Copperfield scammed his way to stardom?

Personally, I like Criss Angel. His persona is a bit hard to swallow at times, but when he drops it and just acts like himself, he is rather impressive. Some of his smaller effects are incredible.

I was highly impressed with both his card through window on the bus and the water to beer change.

David Blaine is another great performer, but I just don't like his style as much. Blaine is so laid back he's almost dead. Anytime you hear or see him with a spectator, you're wondering whether or not he'll finish the trick or just fall asleep.

Regardless of persona or monotone speech, both are incredibly good and deserving of their fame and recognition.

I cant say I am a huge fan of him. However he does some pretty good tricks. I myself am into card tricks which Criss does not do very much however he is still a good entertainer.

I normally watch all magic on tv even playing tricks :!: however the combination of mindfreak being shown after 12:00am and my dissapointment of the first episode all filler no killer i havent made the effort to even tape it.
