False Cuts and Ace Productions

Postby stevebo » Aug 24th, '05, 15:30

Right guys. I know you're probably getting bored of me doing c**ppy (rubbish) flourishes so I thought I'd be a bit more creative and do some flourishes that can be incorporated in magic! False cuts and two Ace productions!

Enjoy!!

Wow that was amazing especially the MOlecule ones. I know how to do the Trinary and Pendulum CUt but nowhere near as close as you do it. HOw long did you practice it?

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say... You're a guitarist!

The gripmaster gives it away =oP

Nice bunch of moves, there. Certainly shown me a few I didn't already know. I'm gonna have to go look some up =o)

Wrong! lol... not a guitarist. More of a pianist but I do self learn guitar.

All the moves are from as shown in the credits.

Wingman - The Molecules are my favourite too. Very fun to do as well. However, I'm nowhere near as good as the way the Buck Twins do it. Practice is an issue. It takes a lot of practice for these cuts/ flourishes. I try to practice whenever I can. You'll almost never see me without cards so... guess that can cover it.

The molecules were surprisingly easy to learn. But to master it is going to take some time.

Stevebo and Symtal (I'm guessing you're a guitar guy, too), who are your favorite guitarists?

Random but I guess Damien Rice or Jack Johnson.

Any comments about the video Demitri?

Vai, without a shadow of a doubt. Highly skilled, with a mind that is more insane than mine!

Ahh read some reviews about it an there is no teaching, which is really bad for me as a beginner but I might get this later on when I am more experienced...

Vai is one of my favorites, too. Another is his old teacher - Joe Satriani.

Stevebo -

I DO have comments on the video, and I apologize for not voicing them earlier (you know, actually paying attention to the subject of the thread  ).

Your card handling is very good. You're sure of yourself and it shows, especially during the ace productions.

The molecule cuts were very flashy. I'd love to learn these moves - but just haven't taken the time to invest the cash in the instructional vids.

I can't comment on the technical aspects, since my flourishes aren't near your level. But, as I've said before, I know when I like something and I like what you had here. I don't need to know how to do it, to know that it takes a great amount of skill and dexterity.

The productions were cool and the cuts were well executed. Great work.

That is true. It's all the moves just shown in slow motion. Also, the videos aren't in reverse so it made learning harder for right handers. I just used a program to reverse the images.

It is hard to learn from and I would recommend you buying Showoff with cards before you buy it because you'll need to know Brian Tudor's Revolution Cut for most of the cuts in the DVD. Also, Showoff with cards would be easier to learn from.

Thanks Demitri for the comments! But honestly, my skills are far from being good. Need so much more practice. Most of the moves in the System, I still haven't got a clue as to how to do it.

One more thing...

The D&D System's DVD case is actually shown in my video. It's the case that's right next to my close-up mat. lol

Just out of interest (and it's a question that has bugged whenever I see somebody do these flourishes), how do you present these to spectators? Do you include them in regular magic routines or just present them on their own? If so how? Sorry to be so nosy but it intrigues me that these can form an interesting performance piece. I hate to draw the similarity, but in my mind I can't see these being any more astonishing than a juggling display. Of course, I have never learnt any such flourishes myself, so I'm not in a position to comment on the dexterity involved, but from what I can gather, that is the case.

All the best,

Will Wood
