Card College has quite a few tricks in it, but the majority of the work does deal with sleights, theory and routining information. Still, it is almost an essential to have. You can't go wrong with the card collge series. From these books, I discovered the methods behind TONS of effects. You may not learn a thousand trick secrets right off the bat, but once you get the information and sleights down, you're going to open the door to them.

EDIT - Also - if you DO go to Tannen's - they'll most likely offer recommend Card College. They did the same with me.
