I get paid on friday, and i need to get a new card magic DVD! I NEED IT! Im looking for something that only really deals with card magic and teaches sleights as well. What do you recommend?

Hmmm i guess that would be useful wouldnt it! The only dvds i have at the moment are Ninja 1 and 2, Crash 1 and 2, and Xtreme Beginners. I am brrowing How To Do Street Magic off my mate soon, but until then i need something to spend my money on and keep my wet my appetite again for more magic!

Does that actually teach tricks and routines? Ive heard that it just teaches the sleights but no routines to go with them.

No, it teaches 4 GREAT routines:

Ultimate Transpo
Biddle Trick
Two Card Monte
AC routine (I still use it, it's amazing)

Born to Perform is a good choice - but I think with the videos he currently owns, some of the material on Born To Perform might be redundant. Still a great investment.

If you're looking purely for effects and some sleights - the Ammar Easy to Master Card Miracles Series is an excellent choice. Sankey's Revolutionary Card Magic is also good (a bit more expensive).

Personal opinion - I'd start investing in the Card College series - but you said DVD so I'd go with the two I mentioned or Born To Perform as Katriel (who I really think should contact Oz Pearlman for publicity fees!!!) advised.

I got Sankeys Revolutionary Card Magic last week, I think it is brilliant. 28 routines with detailed explenations and sleights on a 2 disc set. A bit pricey, but will keep you busy for a long while.

Thanks all! I think im going to look into the Ammar Easy to Master Card Miracles and Revolutionary Card Magic. I have been thinking about getting Born To Perform but i already know how to do The Biddle Trick, AC Routine and Two Card Monte, as well as a lot of the sleights on there, so i figured i'd be paying for just a small amount of new material.

I also realise i said DVD but i am also going to look into the Paul Harris Art of Astonishment series which i have heard a lot about. The only thing is im not sure if it'd be as easy for me to learn from a book as im so used to DVD's! What do you reckon?

Thanks, Rich

DVD's are easier for some people to pick up, since you're SEEING the move done, rather than interpreting it through text and pictures.

There are those out there in the world of magic that say the books are superior because they force you to think the moves out and adapt it to create your own style, while a DVD can actually cause you to just copy the moves verbatim and not actually put your own flare to them. I agree with this theory - but it can easily be overcome if you allow yourself to get creative with the handling, and alter certain aspects to put your own touches to it.

As for the Ammar tapes - you have 9 volumes to choose from. Personally, 1-6 are gems and you can't go wrong with any of them (6 is a personal favorite of mine). I've heard mixed reviews on 7-9, but there are a few bits in there that continue to tempt me to complete the entire series.

I've recently been performing Colour Fusion again after some six months (at least) break and the reactions are still as good now, as they were when this first came out. You should be able to pick up the DVD pretty cheap and it's worth it in my opinion.

I also recommend Born to Perform but it depends on your skill level on your skill level. Great if you're a beginner but if you're at an intermediate level and above then you may be disapointed
