Bat, Raven?

Postby Nightmare » Sep 22nd, '05, 04:13

I've read into these two products, and by the looks of it, their tricks rely on [aardvarks]. Not sure what the exact schema for each are (i.e. how they work, size, structure, etc.)

Regardless, I was wondering if these products are small and compact enough to be worn at all times. I don't do actual magic shows or performances yet, but it would be nice to have these on me at all times to do "spur-of-the-moment" magic. Is it possible? Or will they get in the way?

Thanks for any info!

Personally, I don't use the Raven much. I find that although it does provide a good vanish, you can do almost as well with a simple pinch vanish.

It is very easy to carry around at all times, and a good effect IF you can do it correctly. I have it, but can't do it correctly because I'm only 14, and I find it difficult

I bought a raven X2 and yes it can be carried at all times and does produce a great effect (but never really use it Spur of the moment).

I personally would suggest though that if you are a beginner (I don't know if you are a beginner or not sorry) you would be better off spending your money on "BOBOs Modern coin magic" Book and learning some proper sleights and vanishes.

Yes it will take you a bit longer to master the moves but it is definitly more worth it and cheaper.

One of the many problems we have as Magicians is that we have a compulsive nature which makes us buy props that we sometimes never need ( I know i do anyway).

Kev, stick at it, re-read the instructions and practice more with it. You'll soon improve and will begin to find it easy. Your inability to perform this well is nothing to do with you being only 14

I used to as well if I'm honest  . I do agree and I never cease to be amazed at how many total beginners ask for advice on the Raven and are considering it as their first magic purpose.

I've got to agree with DAT on this one - your age has little to do with the fact you haven't mastered the raven.

Just a side note, is the original post of this thread a little too revealing?

Thanks for your replies guys,

So do you think it's safe to wear these all the time? They're pretty strong wibblydoofers so I don't know what the effects are -- health wise, and on nearby electronics

Personally, I use the belt loop method for the Raven, and I've worn it for days on end like that...

I didn't mean it like that. The reason is I only wear shirts at school, and it kinda impossible to do the way that won't be as ovbious with a t-shirt on if you know what I mean. I hope I didn't give anything away.

Kati, whats the belt loop method? PM me please

I can only answer as it reads. After all, I'm not a mind reader

I know what you mean regarding a shirt and I never liked the look of the shirt method which I know required a button up and not a t-shirt.

When I do use my Raven and it's not very often, then I always wear a jacket.

Kati PM'd me, and that method is a much better way. Unfortuantely, I dont have belt loops that much either, as I usually wear joggers.
