I have advice for you!!

Hey,
I have recently started a new job performing magic at a local restaurant, it is only small but it is a start. It went great and it was fun also, and i learnt a lot. I even managed to get a business card, of someone interested in booking me for their cricket end of season party. I'd like to say thanks to Mark for his advice on restaurant work, a while back (remember that BIG LOOOONG Post?- that helped.)
I guess i should change my profile to WP - yay!

So, with my two hours of experience, i have this to say... It doesn't matter how many times you watch Jay Sankey, or anyone on a magic dvd perform the effects. Untill you go out and perform it for real people (as opposed to pretend people?) you won't know the strength of it. There were some tricks that i thought were mediocre, but performing them, they got great reactions. So i urge people to practice then go out and get experienced.

That's all i wanted to say,
Thanks,
Ed.

Congratulations and well done - the first big step.

I recall the thread and it's true that there was some great advice offered and it;s always nice to hear of it being put into practice and it being a success.

Whilst I agree with the main points what I find is that no two nights are alike. On some evenings, certain tricks get great reactions but on another evening the same tricks can only get mediocre reactions. That doesn't mean that your perfromacne was less successful, it's just that when you change the people you will change the reactions.

I fully agree with you in that the best experience is to get out more and perform to strangers. If you can entertain them well then the sense of achievement is difficult to better.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
