Finding my Niche

Postby danjferg » Sep 29th, '05, 16:32

I enjoy seeing people smile! As a preteen our family often visited a themepark in Idaho that hosted a local Magician. I remember enjoying his tricks and thinking, "I can do that! Maybe even better."

I picked up magic as a hobby because I love to make people smile and walk away saying, "How did he do that?" I love it more when they come back with their friend and say 'do that thing...' I also find that it fits the areas of my life where i am called upon frequently to speak in front of various audiences.

I'm 24 and going to school in utah. I am an Eager Newcomer trying to find my niche in the magic world, trying various routines and combinations. One time I did a performance at a children's hospital in Delaware and got booed off the stage by children. I tried again doing humor magic and got booed by a family crowd. I found out later they booed because they thought it was funny and they were really fooled by the magic.

At the present, I enjoy using "Science" as a background for my tricks. I enjoy sleight-of-hand and productions more than other tricks I have performed. But, I am still trying to find what fits my personality. Hopefully the community here will be a valuable resource. One day, I hope to perform professionally.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
