I use a a graphics programme called Adobe Photoshop which has an animator with it thanks.

And to resize your pictures, make them 80 x 80 in the first place 8)

For a long time now I've wanted to post an avatar. I've tried many times with Photoshop but I can never get anything under 8 kb. I mean really 8 kb!!! Thats a c*** (not the best) file! I doubt theres anything on my computer under 8kb.

Anyway, it's easy to get the size down to 80/80 but I've tried saving it as jpg and gif but neither will ever get an image below even 60 kb. How do I export it to fit.

Blocks of plain colour will go quite small as gifs, but if you want a more comples image you should use jpg and vary the compression rate when you save it. I find that the Gimp is a very good image editing pakage, and the best bit is that it is free from www.gimp.org

I've been using Macromedia Fireworks, that's fine for web-based images, when i export i can put in a desired file size and it will work out the compression rate for me.

With my standard photoimage based 80X80 image, a .gif is about 9k at 100%, if i drop the quality to about 90% then i can get it to about 7k.

Cooldudedan - Send me the image you want avatared if you like and i'll do it for you.

Errr, My avatars are not just plain blocks of colour, and they have brusshing in them (Those who have Photoshop will know what I mean), but mine are still less than 8kb. You must be doing something wrong.
