You would need to buy a wirelss Router/Modem ... they are about 80 GBP.

I'm NOT a fan of sony by any means .... and i am deffinatly not a fan of the playstaion as a console.

I have worked in the games development industry for a while an my company is currently developing a game.

From what i have seen of the PSP i have been reasonably disapointed, as far as its 3D capabilities are concerned and the frame rate is very poor.

Another thing you have to bare in mind is that alot of games are almost direct morphs from the bigger consoles, this means that the GUI's were designed for big screens, this makes them very difficult to see whats going on ... meaning you cant spot enemies, see obstacles in the road etc etc.

My reccomendation would be for you to hold onto your money and buy an XBOX360 when the arrive later in the year .... if you want on the move entertainment then get yourself and IPOD ... or a gameboy with tettris on it.

I'm looking forward to the Nintendo Revolution, actually ;).

Why? Many reasons. One is that the Xbox is designed to do everything. We don't need a home media centre (we have 3 computers) so why pay $400 or similar when you can get just the games console for under half that.

Second is that Nintendo has two franchises, Zelda and Mario, which I quite like. A lot of the games that you can get on Xbox or PS2 are very similar to PC ones, whereas the Nintendo games are actually different from anything you get for PC.

And thirdly, the controller is just too cool ;). I have one worry though, that it will not be responsive enough (as I have used a mouse that works on the same technology and it was very inaccurate and required a lot of wrist movement).

Anyway, enough about games.

Each to their own I guess.

I'm with Rob on this one... Xbox 360 looks thigh-rubbingly good. Have you seen the info on the power button? The console can detect which way round it is, and switches the lights on the power button accordingly. Pretty groovy if you ask me.

I saw the preview for Dead or Alive on the 360... nearly dropped my bacon sarnie!

I'll vote with you on the nintendo basis kati .... they do have alot of origional and novel games.

However ... the reason the XBOX is priced the way it is has little to do with its functionality ... if you think about the costs of the hardware alone they are overwhelming.

Microsoft has always dreamed of a central unit for every household to be controled from .. this project was origionaly called? ... you guessed it ... the X-BOX!

Nintendo will always have a certain market, and they work perfectly for pick-up and play entertainment ... but for complete imersion into an experience i think only a games console can, PC's just add a complication to things ....

Rob

The moral of the story ... and the point I'm trying to make is: Dont buy a playstation of any shape or form .... also ... DONT use AOL.

also ... point to mark ... dead or alive looks pretty poor ... but then I'm not a beat'em up fan ... but the graphics do look incredible .. and we are only scratching the surface ... with the triple core and graphics chip that puppy will put out some serious kick.

I dont think there is any other way of going wireless ... you will always need an access point to connect to ... some public places offer a free services to connect too, but for at home you will need the router/modem.

As for working in the games industry ... i worked for a small development compaby but left before we ever got round to publishing the title.

I worked for a while as a designer on the story and scripting side of things ... also lent my hand to a little bit or artwork and 3D modeling ... but never got involved with the heavy coding and things like that.

My company is currently looking for artists and programmers ... we are currently writing the story and scripts, its quite a heavily plot based title.

Sony have quite a few issues ... I'm not denying that they have done alot for the industry but i think thier time ine the lime light is ending now.

If you watched their E3 presentations it was more than clear they were panicy and lost with the current fast paced climate of development ... they are hiding away from showing any real material.

Serveral games developers have been quoted on saying that sony have released pre-rendered CGI footage which is completely unrealistic of the consoles true potential.

They did the same for the PS2, released a load of amazing CGI footage and then failed to deliver ... even now after 5 years cant match thier origional goals for the console.

I like beat 'em ups! And I'm a fan of the Dead or Alive games, as well as the Soul Calibre series.

I like driving games too, and puzzle games, and first-person shooters. In fact, anything but sport-based ones.

One thing I think the console can't match the PC on are strategy games, which are my number one game-type. I love the new Warhammer Dawn of War stuff, Age of Empires, Command & Conquer, the whole gamut.

Yep ... stratargies are a great genre ... many-an-hour wasted on Command and Conquore ... i think my favourite all time genre has to be click-and-move style games ... all the lucas arts range and incredible ...

poor ace...
anywhoo, on topic :D
i have a psp and got it when it first came out. im a biig BIIG sony fan so i got the psp, right now the games are a little iffy and hacking the psp seems to be the cool thing (hacking meaning getting around security, not virues) i never use the internet (kinda slow and sucks, but useful sometimes) and the bigger memory cards are EXPENSIVE! but if you're like me and already have alot of sony memory cards, you're set.
.if you have alot of money to spare, go ahead and buy the psp.

if not, just wait out till the xbox360, nintendo revolution, or the ps3 (psst get the ps3).

oh yeah, i also heard that the xbox360 isnt that suprisingly great.

?!~
