Erdnase Colour Change

Postby Johnny Wizz » Oct 24th, '05, 12:05

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have tried search but haven't found it.

I get a card click when I am making the change. I have tried pressing more lightly but then the card doesn't move far enough.

Any tips?

Hi

When doing the change make sure you are moving the card below far enough down then when it is clear of the top card you can then complete the change and there should be no clicking.

Hope this helps and I hope this is not classed exposure

My Erdanse is by no means perfect but it is getting there and with regular practice I am sure it will be perfect in no time.

Thanks guys. I am always happy to have the answer practice more. As far as I am concerned it means that you have been there and worked through it.

Thanks Dorian. The distance Oz Pearlman says to move the top doesn't leave much leewayif you know what I mean.

I really like this move and I am going to crack it.

Hi

I know what you mean about Oz I started off with a bigger gap than he recomends and then the decreased it as I got better.

I learned the ECC from Oz's Born To Perform but recently bought the Nemesis download from Penguin and Oz teaches a slightly improved method on the instructional video.

To avoid a clicking noise the top card should come forward approximately 1-2cm and the second card should be kept as flat as possible as it is pulled back.

In other words the noise comes from your palm pushing down on the second card, creating tension between the tops and second cards. As the second card comes free of the top card, this tension is released, causing a clicking noise. To avoid this, the second card should be kept horizontal.

It is a matter of practise, but there is also the matter of poor technique here. That's not a a dig at you, but you just need to make a slight adjustment to the way you perform the change.

I hope that helps,

All the best,

Will Wood

Greetings Will

It was not my question but that was a good answer as I thought the click was being caused by the card clipping the top one but your answer makes more sense.

John,

Got your reply to my PM, but to save repeating advice, Goldfish has said pretty much what I was going to advise.

The 'click' is caused because the cards are uneven, and the lower card, being at an angle, pops over the top one as it clears the edge.

If this doesn't make sense, I will try to do a demo-vid and post you it to show what I mean.

Hope this helps,

Thanks to everybody who has replied. I can see what I am doing wrong now. Its a bit of everything really. I am finding that it is easier to learn with a bigger gap than the 1/4" Oz recomends, I can see that I have been pressing too hard and not pulling the card out straight and also through pressing too hard I am sometimes bringing out the third card aswell as the second!

So a bit of polising and a lot of practice is still needed.

Thanks again, these comments really do help.

if the cards get sticky and you pull out the third card, you can always use a new deck ;)

but yeah, dont press downwards more than you need to, or it clicks

I've been trying to master this for ages and been making a mess of it everytime. But the other day something just fell into place and suddenly I could actually do it. It's by no means perfect but I'm pleased with it.

Some tips?

Postby Budric » Nov 11th, '05, 21:26

My problem is that when I pull out the bottom card I get two or more cards. Sometimes it turns out that I cover with 2 cards, and sometimes I cover with one and the other ones are left back and I can't square them. Any tips?
