ID problems!

Postby Nightmare » Oct 27th, '05, 04:23

When doing the ID, I'm having problems with keeping the cards correctly backed up to each other (people with the ID will know what I mean).

Like every once in awhile, the wrong "folded" card will slip up (due to loss of friction??)

Anyone have any tips for not letting the wrong one slip? Are some ID decks higher quality than others? (Ive seen some ranging from $6 to $14 -- Ghost)

I don't think there is a noticeable difference from deck to deck - it's a standard method.

To help with your problem, I've pm'd you.

Don't shuffle/handle them to tightly - I made that mistake at first.

The roughing spray will do it's thing within reason.

Don't worry. Many people have had this problem, and although with practice it does get a lot easier, there is one very good tip I can give you that really does make a difference.

Polish the cards with a little bit of car polish. Don't go over the top, and use your common sense as to which parts of which cards you are polishing, but believe me, once you have done this it will suddenly seem very easy.

The tip works with all effects that use the same principle...

I obiously can't speak on whether or not something is wrong with your deck, but in many cases, I find the lighter you hold/spread the deck the better, often it is a case of "Over pressuring" the cards

In my experience with my ID I've noticed that if I hold it quite loose then certain cards come apart. In contrast if I hold the deck too tight then none of the cards will separate and I can't separate the cards that I need to. So my technique uses a mixture of holding tight until I get to right place going loose to get the separation and tightening up again to stop any other cards from separating.

That sounds exactly like the way I do it. To be honest, you just need to find the method that works for you as everyone handles cards slightly differently.

splashing out!

Postby Magic J' » Nov 2nd, '05, 22:42

Theres no need to splahs out on a full set of bikes and ruffing fluid it is so much easier, time effective AND cheaper to buy a standard ID, i get mine of ebay, fantastic look out for pro-digitos on there!
Thanks all

recently brought a brainwave - Unfortuatly the roughing fluid has rubbed off a bit already. The dealer i brought from btw is very good and wouldnt down-grade them at all. I was just un-lucky i think! lol
However penguin are very good - J' (i work with lol) has no probs with hos deck.

That happens very rarely to me, but whenever it does it always happens on the streets when I am performing. What I do is simple, if it pops out I square up the deck and say, "You saw that card there yeah? the one upside down? Well this time I want you to take it...". I follow this on by going through and getting the right card this time. Nobody has ever noticed this, and it never goes wrong twice in a row for me :D (luckily)

Also, they asked to examine a card :P. I just gave them the top card without letting them see the card "underneath" so to speak :P

I do hope that that has helped you :D
