If you want to do the levitation "facing" the spectators, all you do is do everything the same except instead of leaning forward on your toes, lean back onto one of your heals.

I once did the levitation holding onto a broom handle with the bottom end on the ground. In this way it looked like I was using arms straight out in front of me to lift myself off the ground. You should see when you hand the broom handle over and they try to recreate this.

I like that idea. It kind of adds to the effect in that it gives the spec something else to think about and they start to view the trick like...
"Somehow he must have had bars running from his arms to the broom" or "I think the broom must have been embedded in the ground some how".
That's a really good way of working the effect and I will try it that way the next time I get the opportunity.
