Here is my latest video. It contains two poker themed trick.

I find these tricks quite fun and simple to do but they're really effective. Tell me what you think.

Hi -

Quite nice. The only comment I have is that you shouldn't tip that riffle - use a false cut instead as a bottom-stock riffle is a useful tool.

I agree that it can be useful, but if it's done properly, they won't know you have a stack on the bottom to be false shuffling with, and they won't notice you did it anyway.

P.S. I PM'd you with another aspect of this that I don't wanna mention here just in case the TM Mafia come round for my kneecaps.

The second effect is actually "A poker puzzle" as found in Royal Road.

These two tricks, as simple as they are, work very well as little show off tricks where there is literally nothing to see from a spectator point of view, apart from the force in the first trick. Other than this force they are pretty much self working and as a ratio of "simplicity:effect" i would never pass them up when i've got a chance to perform them. I prefer more complicated tricks but these work well to put the s*** up my poker playing friends when we're chatting before it's my deal. I've only managed to perform each of these once during a poker game as it's difficult to set up the cards mid-game. However, without giving too much away, some lucky git got 4 aces in a Texas Hold 'Em game just before my deal and I put them on the bottom to demonstrate the second mystery.

I learnt the first one from Gerry Griffin's "Complete Card Magic: Volume 3".

And I learnt the second one from Andrew Murray's "Thirteen", which I recommend as a beginning DVD for anyone recently got into magic. It's what I got and despite their simplicity I still use some of the tricks on there now.

I find that if you do a backslip, it is much easier to force the card. Then you do actually stop at where they say, so they don't notice anything a little bit dodgey.

I must apologise for my amateurishness (wow...i just invented a word) but I don't know what a back-slip is. I know you can't tellme but I'm sure I'll find it out somewhere along my journey and I'll come back and say "hey Kev, you were right, thats much better."

For the moment though I've never had anyone suspect anything dodgy about the force. Therefore any more complicated method would have to be damn good for me to practice it to the point of using it to enhance this trick.

Thanks for the opinion though. As soon as I find out what a back slip is I'll let you know what my opinion on the matter is.
