Help with loops

Postby taneous » Nov 14th, '05, 10:31

I suspect this should be in the restricted area but I'll try and be as vague as possible. Please do the same when replying

I've been using loops for a while now in the context of a restaurant. I use them mainly to move a pice of cutlery on the table in combination with my metal bending routine.

The trouble I have is finding the darn thing on my wrist. It's ok if I make it the first thing i do at the table because then I find it and set it up like I want it before I get to the table - but to find the loop while I'm in the middle of interacting with a table requires a lot of misdirection.

I've worked out a new (well new for me - it's probably out there already) hookup that I'm going to try on wednesday but I'd be keen to hear if anyone has any good advice for the problem I have with loops (other than scraping a fork along my arm as if I have a strange rash or something).

The secret to a succesful rain dance is all about timing

The only thing I can think of suggesting is to have them 'stored' on your wrist, and, whilst performing, hook the top over your thumb so the loop is diagonal across your hand. From that position it's much easier to 'hook up' the cutlery.

I suppose you're still left with the problem of finding it in the first place, in order to hook it over your thumb, but this time you'll be looking for it with a finger of your other hand rather than the fork itself, and you won't have any timing issues in that you can get it ready in this position WAY before it's needed, rather than scrapping around with the fork and trying to fill this moment with chat.

Thsi way, you can pick a moment in the run-up to 'hooking-up' the fork to 'get ready,' rather than have to do it all in one go.

Loops

Postby MagicTom » Nov 25th, '05, 19:00

Can anyone reccomend a good UK supplier of LOOPS. (preferably an online shop)

I was once offered some but never got them so i am ok with buying some.
Are they as good as they look on video in real life.

Thanks
Tom

Penguin Magic also sucks.

Try the Stelth Jig by our very own Seige and Tom Lauten. It's available from Alakazam.

It's not just me...

Check this thread out. There are a few other issues with Penguin magic too, but you'll come across them soon enough, no doubt.
