Blackeye

Postby stevebo » Nov 16th, '05, 19:39

Since my other video was not a success, I decided to make another.

This is called Blackeye. It is similar to my basic math video.

Just an ace production... Very short film

Credits to Dan and Dave Buck

Enjoy

now if only that "one" four wasn't so strangly thick.
think this works a lot better with a pair of 2's

as an edit: (for trying to sound a bit less of a <edit>): yes, it did work very well, i was impressed at the vanish of the 4.

Hoever, I do like the way that it is done. The bit I can't figure out though is how he made the ace appear above the two...or...well. I dunno :P - maybe I am just tired :D

Well done mate!

Love

Thanks.

I know that 5 cards seem a bit excessive. My 3 card version is ok, but with 5 cards, it's easier to conceal the 4.

Larry... this is a rather formal forum. I think using that word is a bit inappropiate.

What do you mean it wasn't a success? If you mean you recieved feedback which you weren't expecting, then I suppose it wasn't a success. That doesn't mean that you should start over though. Go away and get the old one right! All of the comments made in that thread were meant as constructive critism, with the idea being that you would go away and build on that.

As for this one, I'd much rather see it in a fuller routine but if you're wanting specific comments about the move, I can't really fault it. All I can say is make it smoother; it looked rushed and these "flashy" moves always look better when they are under control.

Have you shown this to anybody yet? It's a very angle prone move and I'd be interested to see how a "live" audience would respond to it.

Also, how would you get into this? Would you try and pretend that 4 of clubs was just one card? I don't think that would wash anywhere but on the internet with a poor quality webcam.

All the best,

My old video wasn't a success. I'm working on it. I just thought I'd make a video on this.

This trick I think would work well on an audience because I've done this trick with 2 twos instead of the 4 aces and it worked well. With 4 aces, the cover is even better.

I actually thought my video went alright. But different people have different opinions and I don't judge that. As long as criticism is constructive, I don't mind at all.

Let me just clarify my comments, seeing as I have been told by Rob Rawlins (SirRawlins) that other members of the forum apparently find my tone offensive.

If I wanted to have a go at you Steve, I would have simply told you the move was rubbish (which it isn't) and leave it at that. Instead I tried to pick out the weak points of your video so that you might have something to build on. Comments such as "well done." or "great move" are fine, but leave you with nothing but an ego boost. And even though you are deserving of praise, I thought there were areas which might need strengthening.

Let me reiterate, I wouldn't have gone to all that trouble if I thought your video wasn't worth it.

I hope that you can go away and maybe come back and show us a solid application of this move in a routine. May I suggest you think along the lines of the competition?

Good luck and keep us posted.

All the best,

Will Wood

I didn't say that I find your tone offensive. I'm sorry if I implied that.
