Total change then, this is not easy. I give a damn about all being an ace routine act.

Start off with MCD (let the audience find the aces, the only 4 aces in the deck)
Then go into Invisible Palm (aces are already there)
Then Intimate
Then, a magician fooler, Spooky Cut

Better?

No, spooky cut is one of Rune's personal creations.

I have no idea how Spooky Cut works - but then from the responses of people on TM it either seems to be really obvious or very clever.

I prefer that routine actually - seems that it would work much better. The only question is the same as previously - have you got a logical reason for ditching the aces? It doesn't have to be much but it would seem a bit weird if you just left the aces and started on Intimate...

Why don't you include Reset, as it uses aces, and is a great effect? :D

Kati, I don't believe you need a reason for everything you do :) Just add some stupid patter between the tricks, and you're there...

True...I'm playing devil's advocate as I'm sure that you could get away with most stuff; people will just have their jaws on the floor.

(That wasn't sarcastic by the way ;)).

Hehe, yeah... well, we'll see I guess. Infact, the tricks I have got most reactions on, are spooky cut (still VERY surprised of that :) ) and Invisible Palm, so I think I just need to include them in the competition.

I started learning Magic straight after watching a version of Invisable Palm, as a layman i have ever been as impressed as i was by that routine, had me confused for a long while.

I know when performing a version of it for friends they were boggled.

Again, i still have no idea how spooky cut works, its was a great routine.

I thought that I had it, but I'm not so sure anymore, as it doesn't work 100% of the time :?

rcarlsen writes (in jest, I HOPE!): "Just add some stupid patter between the tricks, and you're there..."

I sincerely hope that no one takes that seriously. Patter, routining, storytelling -- call it what you will -- is THE important part of magic; it's what separates us from the acrobats! LOL!

Seriously, a routine should be able to stand on the patter alone and forget the magic (millions of stand-up comics and monologists will tell you that obvious fact!).

BTW, rcarlsen, you didn't say but I assume this is an all-card-trick show that you are joining in.

cheers,
Peter Marucci

Peter,

of course patter is important, that was just a "way of talking".
This will yes be a pure card-show, and I have figured out, or thought, that I will add "Jeopardy" as my final end. The bad thing is that it should be before Spooky Cut, because of setup, but Jeopardy is such a great ending. Well, we'll see.
