Attending a competition on sunday, feedback on program?

Postby rcarlsen » Nov 21st, '05, 14:40

I will attend a competition for magicians on sunday, and here is my planned routine/programme. What do you think?

1: Shotgun Aces
2: McDonald Aces
3: Jazz Aces
4: Intimate or Oil & Water

Yes, there will be a ace-based routine, except the final Intimate routine.

We will have 10 minutes for the show. 5 judges will give a total score from 0-100, and the average will be the grand total.

Sounds good...

One thing though - none of those effects are real magician-foolers. I don't know if that matters to you but you may want to include a trick that's good for magicians aswell, if the competition is by magicians for magicians. (Spooky Cut was brilliant but would need a good idea to join it on to the end of the routine ;)).

Apart from that, I love your magic so keep at it :).

EDIT: Oil and Water would be great ;)

Yeah, spooky cut is brilliant, but I can't find a way of including it nicely into this programme. I am though thinking of adding the oil & water routine, instead of intimate, but again, I am not sure. Intimate has such a nice patter, which oil and water doesn't....

I'm not sure if this would work, or if I'm being totally silly, but if you can do the cut with one hand would it work as an Ace production?

I see your point about the Intimate patter. The other thing about it is that it seems a little strange to have a routine like that as the closer of a 4-ace routine? Maybe something impressive using the four aces - I'm sure there's something good out there :).

Didn't understand your comment on the spooky cut, please clearify.

Hmm, maybe I could do the the Oil & Water, with 8 aces :) The bad thing then, is that wouldn't be 8 different cards... nah, bad idea.... hmm.

About the Spooky Cut? If I remember correctly it is a way of producing two cards. If you were to do two spooky cuts wouldn't that produce 4 cards?

As I said, this probably won't work...

Nah, it's "2 cards selected - lost in the deck - reproduced - with a spooky cut".

I won't offer advice as I'm not a cardie and it all looks great to me. What I will offer is my best wishes and I'm sure that you will do well

From what I've seen you post, it's going to have to be something pretty special to beat you
