There is a butterfly effect in Edwin Sach's Sleight of Hand - it uses tissue paper, and horsehair...etc....I have it bookmarked, but i've never got round to making it up...i've never worked with IT before...but it might be worth a look anyway.

7 Deceptions - the Butterfly Billet Ballet? Has a cool butterfly effect and in it Kenton mentions the Cros Butterfly (Daniel Cros). May be of use?

:) :) The Japanese Paper Butterflies is one of the 3 most famous effects to come from Japan. It's in Hoffman's Modern Magic. Also in Will Blyth's Paper Magic etc. More recently , for you, it was published in Hugard's Magic Monthly( Vol. 13. page 397) More 'recently' 1974. Will Dexter published it , and for some reason called it The Chinese Butterflies, in his book Feature Magic For Mentalists.(Don't ask why in a mentalism book) Still obtainable from Magic Books By Post at £15. Will also(via Supreme) published it as a single manuscript. And of course Davenports sell the USA version which ends in a cloud of butterflies and you can buy a box of spares Packs of 5000 cost £9
