This has been with most dealers for years and years and years. It's just a matter of which card indexes are the best for a performer. Do check out Card Collection (Clive Leewarden) for the ones designed by Pat Page based on the original Corinda ones.(£8:50), (Myles Sinclair of Magical Wonders does the same set at £7:50) and the American Dave Powell (£12) which comes with '48 plastic index pieces' & booklet. Then there's Ken de Courcy's 10 page booklet, Calling All Cards (£3:50) for ideas, gags etc.
I personally like Al Koran's 20 Card Memory. No fekes, just a LITTLE memory and a pack of cards.. The magician goes into the audience and 20 people, FREELY, take a card each. He gives them a number 1 to 20 which they have to remember as well as the card. The entire pack, including the chosen cards is placed in the right trouser pocket. Performer is blindfolded (just for effect). He calls out RANDOM numbers, which relate to the chosen cards. As he does he reaches into the pocket and produces a card. The spectator with that number calls out his card. The selected one is turned and it is indeed the card. Swiftly the others are dealt with., sometimes BEFORE the spectator has named it. Finally the magician holds up 2 cards. "I've found 18.Now the last 2". He calls the 2 numbers, turns the cards, whips off the blindfold with his other hand. What a picture finish. Hands held level with the head, one with th 2 cards, the other with the blindfold dangling. Applause. Applause. Applause. The system is very easy. Look up Al Koran's Legacy by Hugh Miller, pages 29 to 33. (£15) These are all great Koran routines, Cabaret and Closeup. All worn in over many, many professional performances.
