What do you think of this plan?

A meeting area where members can relax, chill out and talk about anything non magical.

Sorry, but I've just noticed that Tyler's profile says he already has a girlfriend. This means either
*You're profile is out of date
*You're "playing away", you naughty bu**er, OR
*You have manged to really "work your magic" since Tuesday

If it's either of the latter two then "you go boy!"

I think thats his number of posts there. I often do that

Hmm trying to impress a girl with magic. Well I wouldn't just do a trick, it has to look really natural as if you've just decided just then to do it, otherwise it'll look contrived and like a really cheesy and rather extravagant chat up line. Chat up lines notoriously don't work. I'd forget the magic and just go and talk to her.

Here's a really cheesy technique but my friend who's into alot of mentalism told me about a "chat-up line" he tried using tarot cards.

It basically involves him doing the tarot card prediction sequence (which I know nothing about) but the cards that are put down each represent a different part of the chat up:
She's probably just come out of a relationship
    Her ex was an idiot
    There's hope for her yet
    You will meet a magician

This may sound really stupid but the presentation that goes with it is actually quite clever and until the end they just see it all as the cards telling the truth until the Magician card comes out and they figure out it's a chat up line. They find the whole ordeal quite amusing.

Having said all this...my personal opinion is that tarot cards are just uncool. It takes a special kind of woman to be impressed with anything a man who owns a pack of tarot cards does.

i agree with mahoney. you should get to know her first, THEN show her some magic to impress her more. i mean, what do you think lay people do to get girls? :D

Just go and talk to her!
Girls don't bite (unless we're provoked).
If you do some magic for her, there's the chance it could go wrong, and also, she may not like magic.
However, my experience in chatting up girls is pretty non-existent, so maybe magic is the way to go.

If you do do magic then make sure you don't come across as a magic obsessive. Remember as well, magic can be quite a powerful thing - something impossible, absolutely inexplicable, happens right in front of you.

Magic is good when it comes to talking to people as it allows you to easily get your personality across - you have a reason for being there, magic, and in performing it there is plenty of scope for humour and interaction with your audience; it can be much easier than going over and saying 'hi' if you're feeling shy.

Echoing the words of others here, it's you, not your magic, that's important. People tend to form relationships based on what the other person is like - not on what they can do, such as their magic. You may admire the likes of (insert magician here) and what they can do, but just because they can do these incredible things doesn't mean that you'd marry them on that alone. Really then it's not so much about whether she likes your magic, but whether she likes you.

So magic is a good way of being yourself and showing what you're like as a person - the actual effect there is, in this case, there to allow you to do that (and to entertain, of course).

Ya my profile is out of date. I broke up with her a while back. It was good times but I dont know she didnt like me anymore lol. Anyway enough on that. Its hard for me to go and talk with this girl because I always see her at lunch and that would be perfect however I work like almost every day at 11:00 till 6:00. So I have to leave and can never catch them. I have tomorrow off though so hopefully they will be around for lunch and I can do something lol. I havent decided yet for sure what I will do but I'll think of something.

Indeed, I'd marry Derren for his magic AND for that beard...
Saddly he's still to ask me...any day now though, I'm sure.

Gee, I guess I've never really noticed that most everyone who's a magician on this forum is a guy. Actually, I don't think a girl has yet to get on.
