Thanks for the interesting responses to my question. I've been meaning to post this reply for ages, but needed to dig out my magic books.

Queen of Clubs - that's a great idea, about the normal playing cards and in fact I've been doing something similar for a while using a routine based upon something in "Legacy" - an "Heirloom" suppliment. It's actually based upon Dai Vernon's Five Card Force.

This effect uses 5 normal playing cards, an envelope and a photo. Basically it's the same as Killer Elite Pro but with a story about an old relative who was a poker player.

A friend of mine has got past these Killer Elite issues by making her own props (using paintings she made, a replicar gun.. and so on) - however, she's hidden the 'secret bits' really well hidden so she can hand them out.

I saw this effect performed mid week using tarot cards and of course some different patter and have to say it looked very nice indeed.

I'm not too sure if someone else has already asked this, but I'm a little busy at the moment to read through 7 pages of comments.

I've only seen the promo video for this and the odd one on youtube, but I'm slightly worried about the fact that in them the same card is picked and the right one. Of course people aren't going to upload tricks that went wrong, so I'm slightly worried that if you was to do this to a number of people at, lets say a function or party, that when they meet up and talk later they'll figure out they all picked the same.

Or am I completely wrong and there is a method to have any card picked? If so this isn't me asking to have that method, just a concern.

I use this - all I'm saying is that it will always work.

Though there may still be some concern with people discussing it among themselves. Sure you can get round that somehow though, never tried...

You can repeat this, so don't worry, but as kartoffelngeist says, you may not want people discussing it after. Therefore if you are repeating, then it's ideal for larger venues where the individuals won't probably discuss the outcome.

As I've said before, my problem with this was that people would often want to look at the cards and the chip as they are interesting props - not to work out the routine, but because they loved those films or have an interest in casinos and want to see which one I've used.

Not always a problem, but sometimes it was. I've not used it for many years, but might dig it out again as it is good fun

I recently got this on eBay for a very good price, and really love the props.

I know we all have our preferences as to which villain the spectator would pick, but has anyone else noticed how the movie poster in Taxi Driver is the only one in which Travis Bickle is NOT holding a gun? I think this distinguishes him visually. Also, he seems to be walking away, which I think would be great in terms of post revelation patter, in that you could say how they were influenced as you said previously"Imagine one of them smoothly walking away from the cloud of smoke...." etc.

I bought this after reading many reviews and I have to say, I'm very disappointed! There is something VERY important that is kept from you before you buy this trick and had I known, I could have saved a lot of money! Needless to say, its never used and now up for sale. Make me an offer.

I'm not quite sure what you were expecting? It's a great effect, and in the right hands it's a bloomin' miracle. I wouldn't give up on it so quickly.

What's that? I was never disapointed with mine and I used to use it in the working world a fair amount?

I can relate. I suspect Rick Maue can too, though don't let me put words in his mouth.

Sorry for the very long gap between response! Its the fact that is multi choice! After everything i read i just didnt expect that! ive now sold it and for a one trick pony at its price i was disappointed!!

I'm not really fishing here (well I am .... kinda) ..... I'm not really into mentalism and its workings, but I do own Corinda's 13 steps.

I quite like this idea and was wondering if anything like it (not necessarily this trick or method - but something similar that I could utilise) is explained in Corinda ??

The principle is not an old one so there will probably be something in corinda/anneman like it. Or if you have any other Nyman stuff you will be able to figure it out.

I think the problem is that everyone looks at this effect with a magician hat on. Take a step back and stop considering the method, and the effect is fantastic.

But aye, a bit too expensive for one trick. Its on one of his early DVDs, maybe the international magic one I can't remember. Get that instead. More excellent stuff on there!

OR buy "Bulletproof" - its got EVERYTHING in there
