Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

do people actually use ghost decks for regular performance? the "red" cards just look wrong, everything else about them is beautiful but i find that if you spread a ghost deck infront of someone they look at it quizzically, then question why the reds are black. so my ghost deck is saved for a few flourishes under UV

I prefer to use the Ghost cards for flourishes and stuff - I really don't like the idea of the red cards being black. It sounded nice in the marketing but then that's the point of marketing ;).

So no, I don't use the Ghosts much for effects. Vipers have much more impact ;).

Ah, Great Yarmouth! Land of the Free and home to some of the nastiest shell-suits since the seventies! And innumerable gift & gadget shops! But .... amongst all the tat, there is magic to be had - we have no need to mention it here. The joys of Regent Road and Marine Parade! The smell of the bloaters and the horse dung! But there lies the magic of my youth and the days of sunshine and happiness. I hope to see you there one day, Mandrake. What more can one ask than Jim Davidson, the Chuckle Brothers and the last Grumbleweed in captivity? As always, there is so much more ... hidden well away from the holiday-makers and day-trippers ... I have that knowledge and know the magic of the land.

Much love

and the last Grumbleweed in captivity
Apprently there's a programme funded by the EC whereby such endangered species are being encouraged to breed in a secret location just outside Milton Keynes and thus restore their numbers to a self sufficient level before being released back into the community. Rumour has it that the one on display in Great Yarmouth was an animatronic version. :?

I was in Great Yarmouth last year, and there was this street that evryone called "Tacky Street" and it had a joke shop in it that sold a few magic tricks. It has fake guy being sick into a bucket outside it

Do you know where I am talking about?

That will be Tickles shop in Regent Road - tasteful isn't it

I hope you enjoyed your time there anyway, young sir! Many a lesson can be learned from these places if you want to understand how to work with an audience. You have to look very hard and keep an open mind but it is there behind all the tack and the glitz. It may be the Grumbleweeds now, but it was once Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Charles Dickens etc who looked, learned and performed.

May your experience grow to match your burgeoning talent and may you learn the secret of true magic. I believe that you will if you keep an open heart and open mind.

Good luck, my friend.

Aha! Probably the wisest move of all!

If ever you intend to return, let me know and I will try to advise you of some of the more beneficial (and tasteful) places for you to visit in the area if you are serious about your trade and do not see it as "tricks" alone. You see, I am believer in true magic and am regarded as strange for being so! But I know what I have seen and experienced.

You are a young man and talented - I am old but have experience on my side. My simple advice would be (should you choose to listen):

You have no real choice other than to follow your dreams - they will not follow you - nor will they wait for you - nobody can follow them for you - and nobody can hold them back whilst you decide - they will slip away very, very quickly. Your destiny lies in your hands; and yours alone - if you show the strength of purpose. I wish you the very best of luck, my young friend.

Much love.

Thanks, but I don't think I will be returning as I used to go on holiday with my Gran and Grandpa, but they have moved to Alicante in Spain, so if anyone knows any good magic shops over there then that would be a great help :D
