Anyone know about computers?

When I open a new Internet Explorer window, the window is very small. Does anyone know how I can change the settings so that when I open a new window, it is in full screen?

Yeh, Get Firefox :D

Just click the full window thing at the top, and it should do it. If it doesn't, just keep doing it everytime it opens and it will eventually stick

I think :D

Or get Firefox, but only if you don't use MSN Messenger 7.5 as it mucks up the computer.

It is a common feature on IE,

Try this and it will help..

Start IE.. Now, click on a link to open the small window.. Once the window is open, use the File>Close option on the ORIGINAL IE windows..

Now, use your mouse cursor and stretch the small IE window out to both sides and top/bottom..

Use the File>Close option to close this window.. Do NOT just "x" out..

Now try opening IE and clicking on a link..

Yes, I'd heard something like that.

I still recommend Maxthon though ;).

Thanks guys, that worked a treat. I know IE isnt the best browser, but I had firefox, and almost all softwarwe (anti-virus etc.) use IE as the default browser, so it was really annoying using firefox, and then having to revert to IE whenever I clicked a link. The thing I loved about firefox was the tabs, being able to have a few sites open, and not clogging up the taskbar.

You can change the setting's if you are using Windows XP to stop multi-windows in IE clogging up the Taskbar,

It's all well using these alternative browsers, however most web developers will create sites using CSS scripts and JavaScript functions that arnt supported by the other browsers so you will run into problems every now and then,

I think the user will more likely run into problems with CSS or JavaScript on IE before all other browsers

I'm fairly sure that unless you use a really esoteric anti-virus it will have a setting to change the default browser.

By the way, Maxthon is built around IE and uses IE rendering engine so it supports all web pages that IE does. The main advantages are increased security and tabbed browsing...

I have McAfee anti-virus, and it wont let me change the default browser. My IE was infected by spyware, so I changed to firefox. This meant that I couldn't update my anti-virus, because it wouldnt open a link properly with firefox, and insisted on trying to use IE, which just didnt work.

The reason I use Friefox is that when I use IE, the amount of pop-ups I get is unbelievable, even with a pop-up blocker!!!

But there is 1 problem I have found, and its a biggy if you use MSN 7.5.

It causes errors and freezes the computer when these 2 run together, and I know that it didn't just happen to me beacuae it happened to my Dad aswell.

Firefox reads the HTML of a page faster than IE does aswell :D

Get an Apple Mac.

Been using one since 1987, and never had a problem.

Virus? What virus.

Browser? Proprietary browser as part of the OS.

Spyware? Please...

You could all learn a valuable lesson by trashing your 'always lurking' processor munching anti-this anti-that applications. Just don't be so stupid as to open any emails or web-downloads which purport to make life better in some way.

Vigilance is, and always has been, the easiest defence.

If you DO get infected, don't panic and go spend £100 on anti-virus parp. Download AVG Free edition from Grisoft.com, do a sweep, and job done.

Most viri on PCs are Trojan Horses... i.e. they dont' usually self-infect. They need launching in some way. The easiest way the virus writers do this is to invite you to install them. (Doh)

Secondly, Spyware is usually also a user-installed item.

It takes nothing more than a small amount of common sense to keep your computer free from harm.

Or, like I said, buy a Mac.
