On the 'Credits' section of the DVD Garcia clearly lays out, well, you know, 'credits'. The Ego Change, for example, is "similar to an idea published in 'Steranko on Cards' (1960)" while the Ego Force "is a version of a force published in The Expert at the Card Table (1902) by SW Erdnase on page 166 under the title 'Methods for Determining a Card Thought of' Method B".

That aside, the ring onto rubberband is a splendid, splendid effect. Easy, angle proof (to the point of you can't help asking people to 'gather around and watch very closely'), and always gets a big reaction. I generally don't bother with the ring coming off bit - it's not going to top the first reaction and it's nice to hand the spec's ring back, still on the band, sort of 'Figure that out.' Because it's impromptu - as long as you have a band and a ring (and someone around almost always has a ring on them) - and never fails to go down well, I've got a rubberband in my pocket all the time, just in case I'm ever put on the spot.

The bands linking in the air is, I feel, a wonderful piece of thinking. OK, there's set up, but raise your hands if you've never done anything that requires a set up. The point is it looks good (it's a very visual bit of magic) and how many of us would have thought laterally enough to come up with that effect? Band effects are generally, 'Right... so what new way of twisting them so you can't see can I come up with?' This a different approach, and so I think it deserves kudos for that alone.

Oh, I think this is a good DVD too, by the way. I have all three: 1 is ace, 2 not so good, and 3 I haven't watched yet.

Hey DGarcia, thankz for clearing that up. Now i got a new question, based on the above quote form penguins magic, does the gimmick mean that i would have to cut up 46 dollars (1,5,10 and a 20) to buid this gimmick?

Hello Daniel, nice to see you here, it's good to be able to discuss effects directly with their creator.

Anyway, I already have Torn and I'm planning on getting the Daniel Garcia Project set. The promo for Greed looks very nice, but as a UK magician I'm a bit concerned that I won't be able to do it with our different sized/coloured notes. Is it possible? If so I'll get mine pre-ordered straight away.
