You mean, this ;). Edit: aaaarrrggghh!

Doesn't look that good to me...it would be a bit better if the card bent in half or tied itself into a Moebius strip or something but it bent maybe two centimetres..not very impressive to me.

Perform with a borrowed deck, naked and surrounded

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Jan 10th, '06, 23:40

That is one fantastic claim.

To be honest, I really liked it. As I watched the promo, I thought "yeah ok, that's bent - a little but then it kept on bending, and bending.

Looks good. I'll be interested to hear the reviews though.

**Edit**

Actually, after watching the video the second time, I'm not that convinced at all and think I can see some quite obvious moves. However, the first time that I saw this I was really shocked - and at the end of the day, if I got that reaction with a spectator, then it would have all been worth it!! :D

i smacked myself. The secret is GOOD!.

just
wow. it doesnt take long to learn, just knwoing the secret allows you to do it, the rest of the movie talks about details and stuff. so far, i would give it a 9/10.

i gotta finish watching it. and The Last deck on the left. no sneaky moves. completly impromtu.

Mistaken

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Jan 11th, '06, 09:26

Hi there,
Thanks for giving this a quick review Zero000.

I've recently been looking at Banachek's Psychokinetic Silverwear (which is excellent and comes fully recommended) - so assumed that this would rely on handling of a similar nature (as akin to all [metal] bending routines).

So perhaps I'm wrong. If you feel you are able to answer this without tipping the method - I'd be very interested to hear if the spectators actually see the card bend, or do they perceive that they see the card bending due to clever handling.

Mods - I'm not sure if I can ask that - so feel free to delete if necessary - it's just that the Ellusionist promo video isn't of the highest quality, and I'm not sure if I can actually see the bending taking place. Ellusionist usually produce very slick, well presented promos. This one isn't. I therefore wondered if that was for a reason.

Thanks,

Seems OK - any replies should be similarly careful and, if in doubt, via PM or e-mail.

CUPS

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Jan 12th, '06, 10:20

Hi guys,

Well I finally gave into the CUPS last night and downloaded this.

All I have seen so far is Brad's introduction and the basic method.

I immediately grabbed a deck and had a quick 'test' before rushing out to work.

I've got to say - the effect of the card bending is amazing! – It even looks amazing to yourself - and you know the secret! In answer to my previous question – the spectators ACTUALLY see the card bending in front of them. They see a flat card lay on your hand, and then they see it bending, without you touching it! The routine has three phases, and from what I gather, phases 2 and 3 are more akin to metal bending handling / routines – but during these the spectator still is able to see actual bending taking place.

The secret is so simple - yet so clever, and visually stunning. Best of all, there are no wires, hook-ups, trapdoors, smoke or mirrors!

I can’t give a proper review yet as I haven’t seen the full video or performed it yet – but I will come back with a more detailed review.

Regards,

yyou always could use smoke or mirrors to make it look better :D

yeah, and its visually bending in front of them. i think it works best as a opener though

Hi there I've been doing mindbender for a while now and I think that personally its a great effect that is easy to do.

Showmanship is almost 75% of this trick and if done properly it can make it into a killer effect, thats just my two cents though.
