Variation of the Chicago Surprise

Postby knifoon120 » Jan 14th, '06, 16:17

Hi everyone

This is my first post, and I thought I'd start off with a video post :)

Chicago Surprise

Comments on handling and presentation appreciated. I have to give credit to Whit Haydn for his "magician's trained eye" idea, and to my friend Jae, for suggesting the bertram color change in the routine.

Great effect!

Isn't there another version of this? Not too sure... it's on the almighty Penguin website.

There is tons of variations - the instant download on Penguin is called red Hot Mamacita, but you can do it with a few DL's

I use that version when I'm doing this trick for a live audience. There is no way I could pull off a bertram change in a live audience setting. The angles for that change are really bad. But, for the camera, why not make it flashy :P

Also, I have an invisible aces routine that I came up with and shot. If anyone would like to see that I can upload that one as well.

I do a version of this. If I have it already set-up (very rarely) I like to use this one when someone says show me a trick. Works perfect to start as a "Pick A Card" trick that really blows them away from the first thing you show them.

Really nice video, Good quality and very well performed. If you have anything else you'd like to show us then please do not hesitate, I know I will be looking forward to it.

Depends how many people you do it for!

I have done the Bertram change with live audiences of two or three people and it works great!

Im gonna explain the version i always use. I make them pick a card and then explain them that cards are shy and when you pick them they trun red, and then i spread the cards to show this, then i make them to pick another card(usually hindu force) and then when i try to make it turn red spreading the cards no card is red, so i just ask them what card was it, when they tell me it was the queen of hearts i explain to hem that the queen of hearts is the shiest card in the deck and it hide from you and you don't know where it can be, then i discover the red card in the table. Everyone freaks out with this version :)

Impressive!

Anyway, Here is the invisible aces. After looking at this a couple times, I can see that the handling is terrible, and the presentation is more boring than my last one. So I have only background music which my friend created. Also, in the middle there is a fading thing that happens. I was fumbling with my cards a little bit because I couldn't find the crimped card *hint hint* :P

Anyway, Enjoy.
The Invisible Palm Aces

BTW, If anyone wants to learn the handlings of these effects, I'd be more than happy to pm you the handlings.
