Put quite simply, the best to use is strong, thin fishing filament.

I have tried using a few different ITs, and there is nothing more embarrasing than a snap during performance, when the note just sits there and does nothing. I even tried extra-strong IT, but I was using a £10 note, and at one point the strain was a little too much.

The reason I recommend the fishing filament method is because if done properly, it can't be seen anyways.

A small tip: to de-gloss the filament so it's less reflective and therefore more invisible, pass it through a sheet of folded fine grade wet-n-dry sandpaper.

If you can get 'transparent nylon', rub it with some sandpaper to take the sheen off it, and then stroke it with a black permanent marker. This is supposed to work well, although I've never tried it. I'm guessing the transparent nylon is pretty similar to fishing line, just a bit thinner.

The black Sharpie trick is great for regular IT, but it's effects aren't desirable in the folding bill effect, unfortunately.

But good shout, colouring IT with a black marker DOES decrease its' invisibility!
