Help with Raven please

Postby moonbeam » Jan 20th, '06, 11:21

I've done a search on this topic, before anyone asks and it came up with loadsa results
I looked through a few and then I gave up, thinking it would be easier to start a new thread

I acquired my Raven a while ago and tbh I didn't really like it so I sold it to a friend, but now I'm thinking that maybe I didn't give it the credit it deserves.

My main problem is not being able to show my hands, front and back, empty. When I do the trick I have to have the Raven loaded in the palm of my hand ready, so I can't show my hands empty. I've seen countless videos where the performer shows their hands empty, and then proceeds with the raven vanish/switch etc. I know I can only be told so much so it's not classed as exposure, but if anyone would care to PM me , it would be much appreciated :D

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

The move you describe is shown in Chuck Leach's video of The Raven - both hands are shown empty front and back yet the Raven is still 'loaded and ready' for action.

Yeah you could get the video or you could just play around with it yourself and work something out. That's what I did and I think I came up with the same method as on the video...

Scudge - can I politely advise you to be carefull of your wording in your posts so as to not even give a hint of exposure.

I know that it's diffucult at times but making reference to line, elastic and empty palms give some significant hints as to how this is put together and works.

It's not only us magicians who are reading!

Cheers

The Mods will remove if they judge it to be revealing and if not, then no harm done.

Just a friendly piece of advice to consider and nothing more sinister intended.

Building one

Postby jared_magic » Jan 30th, '06, 22:59

Not really on how to do the move, but some advice. I don't have a lot of money to spend on expensive props, so I make my magic gimmicks where I can. I managed to build my own raven using a part that came out of a fried hard drive, some crafts my little brother had laying around, and some panty-hose. I've also built things like head twister boxes and silk pulls. So if you have some time and a few suppluies you can build a pro act with basically junk.

Sorry about being vague but, well ,you know
