This was a great effect.

I may have mentioned this previously, but it fits here. I saw something similar in Vegas, when I saw Penn and Teller at the Rio.

Teller brought a person from the audience on stage, and gave her a little fish bowl to hold. He then brought out a giant tank full of water. After doing a few really slick presentations of coins, he did a mini explosion style effect, dropping the coins in the woman's little fish bowl. Then he took the coins out of the little bowl and tossed them into the big tank. He did this a few times, then suddenly, he dropped TONS of goldfish into the tank from nowhere. It was a neat variation of the effect, I thought.

As the lady was leaving (with her souvenir fish bowl) Teller stopped her and produced a giant handful of nickels, dropping them in her bowl and letting her keep them.

I wouldn't say that it's Cyril who's amazing. The trick and the gimmicks are great. This is not a impromptu, close-up routine. But it has one hell of an effect to it.

Cyril is a great performer, but as Rune rightly says, he's relying heavily on props here.

Although, smaller scale similar productions can be achieved without props at all (For example, owners of Sankey's Revolutionary Coin with know what I mean).

Fantastic footage of Cyril though.

Totally agree... misunderstand me correct - he performs smooth, and have what we require of a magician, but he's very into props and stuffs...

My god, no.

I am mostly into closeup, but to only mention 5:

- crazy mans handcuffs
- 2 card monte
- 3 card monte
- mental card (my own routine)
- travelling coins (my own, coins across)

If those don't amaze, then I guess you are correct.... but of course, you are not. I mainly do NO props-magic, usually ungimiccked stuff all the way. So you are so wrong you ever can be.

Of course, that list could be pages of tricks.... didn't have time to comment such a wrong statement...

.... depends what you call amazing
Anyway, just to add to Rune's list, 2 of my favourite's at the mo, which require no gimmicks/props etc are
1. Criss Angel's coin in soda can
2. Enchantment's Dreamweaver (my own routine does away with the gimmicked pin, 'cos I, personally, don't like it  )

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

momo - I think you'd be surprised how powerful the coin in soda can effect is.

To add to the list, here's a few impromptu, gimmickless and powerful effects using just some cards:

Degrees of Freedom (if this doesn't wow your spectator's - they're dead)
Jumping Gemini
Larry Jenning's Impossible

Everytime I've performed this - the reaction I've got is probably as good as any other trick I've done. Jaws drop, mouths are agape, silence prevails for a short while and then this is usually followed by someone saying something along the lines of "How the f*** did you just do that ?"
This is just my own experience - dunno what kinda response other people have been getting

Guys, you are all supposed to be magicians and yet most of you are blown away by this !?!

It has been around for a long time and its pretty obvious to a magician, even if you have never seen or heard of the effect before!

Don't you think?

that's very impressive!
i was wondering how to do the matrixy looking bit at the start.
but after that bit where he just spread his hand acorss the front of the table and a load of coins appeared it just wreaked too much of a gimmicked table.
but still, WOW.

and don't take away our ability to be impressed by magic, when we stop being amazed by other peoples magic, then the magic is lost!

EDITED BY MAGIC EVMEISTER
My original post was sarcastic and after comments from Mandrake I decided it would be best to edit it. Lets just say I wasn't pleased with the comments made by Gary Sumpter and found them to be somewhat condescending.
