Well, I've been practicing sponge ball sleights for around 8-9 years now.
I'm 17, been doing it since I was 8. I'll be 18 in 9 days.
I can thumb clip (thumb pal I think it's called), just ordinarlly hold it, and do the retention vanish all very smoothly. That's basically all you need to do. My misdirection is also good, I guess. A real easy misdirection is as soon as they open up their hands to reveal 2 sponge balls, all the attention is then focused on their hands (The specators). I can reach into my pocket, and grab 2 balls without anyone noticing.
I have Ridge Hamptons "25 easy tricks with sponge balls" although it says these tricks can be mastere din a few minutes, I doubt it. It took me years to MASTER sponge balls.
The problem is, I have several pairs of sponge balls, but they are all red. I have only one black sponge ball, and it is 2 inches not 1.5 inches like my other spongeballs (1 1/2 inch). (I use the red to black sponge change for this)
So when I hold the black ball, sometimes if I"m not careful it can be seen thru the fingers. So I have to be very careful. It's almost impsosible to just grab it in my pocket, and take it out without any black showing.
Then I just do a simple and smooth thumb clip to switch the red ball for the black. If I'm lucky, they wont' see the black ball in my hand during the switch.
But, what's even better is taking a red sponge ball, and switching for a half dollar. I am a numismatist, so I have plenty of old silver coins.
However, the coin switch is a bit harder to do than the sponge ballss, because I can't hold it the same, and I have to hold it (the coin) in my curled left fingers. Unfortunately, I can't classic palm in my left hand yet.
So what would be a good way to do this:
Do some magic with a coin, (without introducing the sponges), then change the coin into a sponge (This is easier than visa versa..) (Via a thumb clip, by the way).
But the problem is this:
Where will I get the sponge from?
Could I do a trick, and make the coin "disappear", position the coin in my curled fingers, and flash the coin a certain way so the coin does not show (the ring and middle fingers cover the coin, while the other coins remain open), then do the switch?
I just want a smooth transitin from coin to sponge, but it's very hard to do this when you don't want know how to get the sponge in your hand without anyone noticing.
Thanks.
(By the way, I'm just asking this because I'm not familiar with many coin rountines, all I know is the classic mark wilsons coins across)
