But I'm sure that in the spectators eyes it appears a miracle!

Well, for 2 seconds.... then, they understand that, well, it was dead, he can't be God. But for cards, there's something totally else, it was red, now it's blue. That's more credible than, now he's dead, now he ain't... eventhough, credible, might be the wrong word :-)

What do you mean by it was dead?

The effect is - the person draws a picture of a butterfly on a napkin - he folds it up, gives it a shake or whatever - opens it and a butterfly flies out and the drawing of the butterfly is gone.

At what point does the idea of a dead butterfly come into it?

Is this a product to be released? Any links? Sounds interesting...

Yes is/was supposed to come out this summer. Paul said that it would only be top notch stunning effects, not endless recycling of effects we have already seen ( his words not mine ). I have no link but there has been much discussion about it. Unfoutunatly is has been delayed as Paul works with Blaine on his new special. Still is slated for this year though.

Lol i was wondering the same thing, maybe he is confused with the 'dead' fly that you bring back to life, or fly in a coma or whatever :)

she might not be an actor as Luke Jermay was a contributor to Mindfreak. And he's a professional on making people what to think he's even helping derren brown on his latest series. as for the butterfly mybe its some kind of gimmik. but don't quote me on that

perhaps this is out of line (i sure hope not) but as far as criss angel goes.. ive heard loads of mixed reveiws.. it seems that alot of people ive talked to really dont like him for one reason or another (just from general conversation etc and not on any board ) and on the other note there is a mass gathering of people that think he is some sort of god. *lol*

as far as his show/act or whatever goes... for me personally its not so much what he does, as ive seen plenty of very similar things performed by other people, its how he does it, or how he wants you to think he does or wahtever you get the point. i like the imagery myself, the idea of floating from building to building. very cool. obviously a person cant seriously fly. people only see the end result whether its pre arranged or not and thats what they base opinions on (does that make sence?) the ammount of work that goes into figuring this stuff out is what gets over looked. (and yes even getting some audience person to be all suprized (if thats the case) is in fact work.. that one person could go to some blog and all would be lost) it seems he has one loads of awards and what not.

the other side of it is sex appeal. dude! what chick wouldnt want some chiseled greek guy in a leather jacket to levetate them! *lmao*. marketing is a bloody brilliant art form and he has it nailed. i can appretiate that. i tend to work in film and things like that and unfortunatly television magic loses something in translation. so until i see him perform live i can't really say. all i know if he gets loads of free stuff and all the 15 year old girls really dig him...

ok i do talk rather alot.

i know how

Postby jake11 » Jun 23rd, '06, 00:51

i know how he does it.there is a thing called pre-hypnosis where you put sumone under hypnosis without them knowing.if he could pre hypnotize her to draw a butter fly, then the hard part is done.now he must use a skilled slieght of hand to get the butterfly out of his sleeve or wherever, and switch the paper.this considering she wasnt in on the trick.then bringing her out of hypnosis secretly, and watching her gape in awe. its simple. :D

im sure the trick you are talking about is called 'the creation of life' or something close to that.i dont know who's it was originally but i do know that ricky jay has a version of it where he actually tears the napkin into the shape of a butterfly:

"Deschanel recalls the time Jay worked wonders with a piece of paper. “As he folded and tore the paper, it took on the shape of a butterfly—and then magically the butterfly flew away. It was in fact a real butterfly. It is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. "
