I have holes in my hands

Postby Option » Mar 2nd, '06, 13:21

I^ve been trying for a while to palm a card. The problem is, even when my fingers are together, there are great big holes between them near the bottom.

they^re about 3mm wide when my fingers are straight, and remain there until my fingers are almost completely curled over. Therefore if tried to palm a card,it would be clearly visible through the gaps.

any ideas on what I can do?

any chance you play guitar or piano? or something that requires you to stretch your fingers apart in some fashion.
i discovered i've got big gaps between my fingers just on my left hand, from playing power chords mainly. so i can't really palm a card with my left hand.
unfortunatly there's not a fat lot you can do to reduce these gaps.
although i'd suggest you move to using red backed cards, and people may not notice!

i used to have this problem,

Experiment with putting your fingers slightly on top of each other - its hard to explain just experiment untill your hand looks natural and there are no gaps.

Also, practice holding your fingers together - the opposite of playing the guitar/piano.

Finally you could learn a really good Tenkai palm and it wouldn't matter!

Cheers,

fine! shoot down my point! i could just retract the piano bit and just say guitar! that's what did it to me

don't you have to really stretch your fingers apart to play some notes though?

I've been playing guitar for 10 years, and I don't have any gaps.

Sorry, Larry - I had to do it.

Not really. I can start on middle C and reach E no bother, and on a good day I can hit F :D (BTW, thats 10 notes, and when I hit F, thats 11 for the non musical people here )My handspan is about 22cm (I don't know if that is big or anyting, I just thought that I would say it )

Guitar - 6 years - No holes

Just to agree with the consensus.

Do you play power chords using only your thumb and little finger? :?

sometimes.
i may have thin hands how do you play a power F without having to stretch your fingers apart a bit? i think it's that bloody F that's given me gaps in between my fingers.

Dont palm the cards with ur fingers, its a noticable trick, use the tankai palm. they will never expect it.

M4G1C14N - Tenkai isn't always the right or best option. As far as being noticeable, if you perform it well and watch your angles, they're all invisible.

I'll second that demitri, the regular palming (is it know as a classic palm?) of a card if you can do it competently is the least angle sensitive palm there is. With tenkai you're boned if anyone isn't directly facing the back of you hand, meaning you cant do it with an audience at 180 degrees (of rotation, nor celsius). The classic palm(?) is the most useful as only people behind you can see it and if your hand is parallel with the floor only the dwarf people or the "pocket-cam" can see it.

By the way, palming never has and never will be about "palming technique/skill". It's all about misdirection technique.

Demitri thats why you always make ur audience be infront of you and on ur right, then they cant notice the angels, dont let them be behind you or on ur left.

I think your theorys shot down by all the others here, but for the record Ive played the piano since I was small.

I just dont have flesh on my fingers, wonder if its because of exercise from playing.
