gluing cards

Postby Option » Mar 4th, '06, 17:00

I'm preparingn for the cards in a Glass trick which needs gluing cards

When I do the gluing should I try to strip off the back of the cards first? For both thickness AND the coating which may not take the glue.

Also what glue is recommended? I was going to go with white wood glue - it's strong and wont die with age.
:P

What type of cards?

I tried to glue 100% plastic cards together a couple of years ago, when I still used plastics. I just applied some Bison Kit white glue (don't know if that's available at your place). Next I put the glued cards under a pile of heavy books so they remained straight.
Wait for 2 days or so and you have some perfectly glued cards.
Think this will work with non-plastic cards as well.

Used for glueing all kinds of things like plastics and paper.
Just go to your local hardware or hobby store and check the glues they have available. Read the instructions on the back to see if it could dissolve certain materials.
Before glueing your stuff try it on some old cards.

Please remember to put the glued cards under some heavy materials to keep them straight and aligned while drying.

Hope this helps.

I tried a few things, and I found the best ( :?: ) was this roll on glue!

It's dry so won't warp the cards, and it's instant. I put it under a book just in case anyway.

I offer a product called Pros-Aide through my special effects company, Nimba Creations.com It is an adhesive of unparalleled strength specially designed to be used on skin. It is non-toxic, water based when wet, water-PROOF when dry and sticks like HELL!

This adhesive is one of the best I have ever used to glue playing cards when making gaffs! It is micro-thin and flexible!

You can also use this product to perform impossible lifts or hold-outs on your own body!

It isn't cheap…I'll warn you now, but it is OUTSTANDING stuff and there is nothing like it out there. It is sold in 50ml bottles and has full application, use and removal documentation. One bottle will last for dozens and dozens of gaffs

Here's the web address to get it from http://www.nimbacreations.co.uk/acatalo ... plies.html
