buying a trick twice???

Postby stitchie18 » Mar 8th, '06, 03:28

I have recently bought hover card from jbtv.
I have paid for the idea and the gimmick.
If the gimmick only costs a small amount of money (glue etc...)
And if that gimmick breaks after use, and you want to buy another, should it cost the same amount??
The reasons the magic tricks are so expensive is because your buying the idea, so can't you just buy the same trick but at a discounted price upon proof you have alrerady bought it?

Any ideas

magic is like music CDs.
when you buy it, its for the idea thus u can't sell it on.
when it breaks, it was for the gimmick thus u must pay full price for a new gimmick

Thus you should be making your own gimmick if you can.

I admit that I kinda agree with this in principal BUT, what if you was to buy another gimmick (even though yours is OK) at a discounted price - what's to stop you selling it on (along with some instructions) and repeating this indefinitely?
I'm not saying that this is what you would do - it's just a hpyothetical scenario that most magic suppliers would probably try and prevent, and the best way to prevent this would be to not to give discounted prices on "repeat orders". Kinda sucks in a way but, c'est la vie :?

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

If your gimmick in the Hummingbird card breaks, then buy some more 'stuff' at your local magic shop.
