Subterfuge

Postby rvoice100 » Mar 9th, '06, 11:57

The Effect:

make a coin or small object disapear, even off a specs hand.

Cost:
$45 but can be bought in uk

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

i would say a 2.5

Review:

i was told how this was done whilst my delivery was being sent so i knew what to expect. i have heard mixed revies on this but in my opinion it is a big thumbs up. the effect can be learnt quickly, it took me a day to get it as smooth as the video on www.subterfugemagic.com it does use black art so if your not a fan stay away but other then that im having fun with this.

What you get:
the 3 gimmicks needed
dvd with routines.

Overall:

id say an 8 i like it

I've recently purchased this. Granted I need to do a lot more practice but I always try my tricks out on the nieces and nephews first starting with the youngest whose 8. She was fooled but then I'd expect that as she's easy to distract anyway.

However my 10 year old newphew is a different kettle of fish, very clever and attentive. I performed the trick in a dimly lit area and to my amazement he saw what went on. I managed to cover it up and he thought it was good, but that worried me!

I'm gonna keep practicing but I'd say this trick is definitely one for nightclubs and bars where a) its dark and b) people are normaly half cut and their 'eye's not on the ball'

The DVD that does come with the trick is good and presented well.

Point to note - the 'accessories' come in 2 sizes - Large and Small - I'm 6 foot 2 and 14 stone. I thought I'd need a size large but it was huge!

Hope this helps.

Any tips on how you are performing this would be welcomed.

Thanks Gavin

This is a clever system but darker and more distracting atmospheres are a serious benefit.

It is "related" to the Raven but also has serious differences, plus and minus points. For me, I will keep mine longer than I did my Raven...I sense a use bubbling away somewhere in the background that will suddenly spring forward.

What you get with the kit is also helpful for other types of effects as well.

Cheekyzombie, has your subterfuge came? i was wandering really how dark the places have to be to use subterfuge. I wnated to use it on people like walking around the streets. i don't like the raven though and M5 is too much so the subterfuge seemed perfect to me.

i was also wandering, is there really a difference between the older subterfuge and the newer one?

And one more question. Would it be better buying Subterfuge off eBay and getting no privalages on subterfugemagic.com (no swaps, no updated products, no help with product) or buying it properly off the site for £10 more and getting all the privalages?

Anyone?

Subterfuge is a one trick pony it vanishes metal items and it does it better than a pk ring. You can show your hands empty.

A PK ring is a much more useful tool but if you want a coin vanish then I'd buy the raven or subterfuge.

Subterfuges ring is not magnetic though and you can prove that to everyone. People will think the ring is and then when you show the pk ring they will find out they're right.
