Postby arkos » Mar 11th, '06, 14:42

What is a good editing program similar to windows movie maker? I like Win Movie Maker but now whenever i add audiom it crashes (very annoying) So can anyone recommend some others that do the same thing?

I'd download the latest movie maker or check for updates as there may a driver issue. Also check that all your audio settings are as they should be in control panel>sound

There are tons of movie making softwares out there, go to www.download.com and do a search.

You could use Adobe Elements, or Unlead Studios.

If its happening with all the programs I think you have an audio issue in general.

Try uninstallin g then reinstalling the drivers for your soundcard, get the latest ones from your card manufacturers website. If using xp click start. RIGHT CLICK on My Computer, choose properties. Click the hardware tab then choose device manager. Find ur card and right click it for properties. Under driver click roll back driver.... if this doesnt work do all the above again to uninstall driver then reinstall with the one you've downloaded.

Failing this its a codec issue, if its happening in all progs then its down to codecs or drivers

No editing to magic videos!!

Just kidding, I hope Criss Angel hear that.. :P
By the way Win Movie Maker is kinda lame, I use NanDub for encoding videos, sounds, etc. But it isn't nice for editing.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx

http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Search/movie_maker.html

Other stuff will still play fine even with a corrupted codec, its only when you really need it that it lets you down.

Check in sound properties that everything is unchecked and nothing is muted, check all your settings meticulously in movie maker. Ensure your audio is being sent to the same place as the film. Sounds basic but its amazing how often software can reset itself with no apparent reason so making all these checks is worthwhile.

Do a google for xp audio and video codecs but make sure u get a reliable set, check reviews of them before downloading.
