Nicknames

Postby Fat_Knacker » Mar 18th, '06, 16:55

I was asked a couple of days ago where my nickname "Fat Knacker" came from. All I can really say is that I had an incident involving a skateboard, a handrail, a flight of steps and a large needle. Enough said. And this got me wondering where all you guys got your nicknames from?

My nick s kopg-amer, it's coming from the first letters of a huge sentence which I used in early 1990's. (It's a Turkish sentence) I use the short version of it after that year because it's more easy to remember :)

Postby seige » Mar 18th, '06, 19:45

My nickname is seige.

The history began that I have a common set of English forename/surname—Chris Jones.

There were a few other Chris Jones namesakes at school, and because we had differing middle initials, we got known as CEJ (me), CJJ, and I can't remember the other guy...

Anyhow, CEJ became SEEEJAY.

SEEEJAY became Seeeeej.

Seeeej became siege. But I hate being a follower of grammar, so I dropped the I before E rule and became seige.

Boring. But it's all in a name, apparently ;)

Good question there.
Some people started to call me "Elmo" at school like about 5 years ago.
But there are a lot of other people who call themselves "Elmo" around my place, so I decided to put a J before it :)

Some people refer to me as JK (With my name being Jelmer Key) but god I hate that

Captain Fantastic...

This was a stage name I used in Tenerife as I was doing an Elton John Tribute Act and the name of one of his albums was Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy.

I didn't really fancy being called The Brown Dirt Cowboy!! :?

Bananafish.

Isn't it obvious?

It comes from a name I have used for signing artwork and such since I was about 18 and so it just seemed appropriate to use it here. It actually comes from a J.D. Salinger short story called "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" – which obviously had an everlasting effect on me.

trickyricky

My name is Richard, which got shortened to Rich and then to Rick in high school, and then extended to Ricky or Richy in Sixth Form, and then when i started doing magic tricks in my first year of uni, people put their minds together and came up with my nickname. Think the thought process went something like this:

'Hey, that guys name is Ricky, and he's doing tricks with cards. Hey, tricky rhymes with ricky. Hey, show us a trick, trickyricky.'

I refused.

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...

Well, since mine needs a lot of explaining, here goes:

My first name is Nick.

My surname begins with J.

NickJ

When I first joined the forum the name Nick was taken otherwise I would have used that.

Im not an Austin Powers fan in particular, but when creating this name it must have been prominent in my mind. Its just an exclamation Austin uses when slapped in the movie 'GoldMember'.

well my real name is Lawrence, i think i go by Lawrence a lot more than Larry now anyway. although a lot of people who know me as "that guy that does the magic" may aslo think I'm called Gabrial Tobias (that would be my alter ego, and probable stage name i fi ever get that far)
