Definition help!

Postby Durto » Mar 23rd, '06, 21:50

hi there!
I am a bit new to the world of magic (about 2 months) but I really enjoy practicing it and look forward mastering it. Talkmagic.co.uk really helps me with that but still, I have a problem
I am from Québec (Canadian's french province) and, as you could noticed, english isn't my favorite language ;)
It would really help if some of the members here could define some of the majors magic terms (that doesn't give anything away ;)!)
I'm looking first for a definition of
- Close-up magic
- Table hopping
(List would be edited as needed ;)!)
Thanks a lot!

Close up is as the title suggests, magic that is performed 'close up' to the spectators as opposted to stage magic which is performed at a distance.

Table hopping is a term given to a style of performacne where the magician 'hops' from table to table and performs to those seated at that table. Usually a performance will be three or sometimes four tricks lasting between 6 and 10 minutes per table, although this can and does vary before 'hopping' to the next table.

Each table usually receives a slightly different routine.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
