Most of the MB members that are here will know who I am, those of you who don't, well, I'm an administrator of MB.
I like Talk Magic. I can't get in here as much as I would like to for the same reason that dat8962 has mentioned - I'm just far too busy to keep up with both.
...but some things you can only expect help on from MB.
I'm not quite sure I understand that one...Whenever I surf the pages of TM, I find the responses quite helpful (one reason why I don't post much here - the suggestions are already much of what I would have said).
Magic Bunny used to be a fantastic forum. You could ask any question and get some very good responses unfortunately with every day it becomes more and more like the Cafe with people posting just for the sake of posting.
I find that to be disquieting.
I don't care what anyone says, I reckon the Mods on TM are far better looking!
Fully agreed. We are a bunch of mugs at MB, it's true.
...you decide which is right [and which is illusion*]...* hands up who knows where that comes from?
I used to know, but unfortunately fell off of my see-saw and my memory hasn't been the same since.
Anyway, the mods of TM are a quality group of guys. I don't think that any of them have the "attack dog" disposition that I have and I think the overwhelming feel of the forum is a bit friendlier.
But, and I admit this, I have gotten a bit thin skinned of late. For example, we just had a kid (14 years old) join our forums and put up a vid of an effect that he's selling. His effect is "original" in his own words. Except that it was already in development in 1985 and by 2001 the final (and best to my way of thinking) product was released by a talented young man who goes by the name Diamond Jim Tyler.
Had the kid put any time into actually researching his "original" effect, he would have a better effect as an end result. I have no patience any more for these kind of antics. I see a lot of this from the younger folks in magic these days.
But, is it any wonder? Magic is far too accessible. Funny, because Dai Vernon was lamenting that same fact in the 1960s. I wonder what he'd think of the instant download crowd...
Ah, well, Talk Magic is a great place and I won't waste my time comparing the two. You join both, you get what you can out of each and you become a better magician, a better performer and a more well rounded character.
The Magic Cafe? That was hurtful.
Take care y'all.
Mike.
