dont be a copier, it wont get you a good rep. learn to be original, one of a kind, like they are. go buy some books, be creative, get a deck of cards. thats my 2cents. you will be better known if your original.

With the right presentation, a standard ACR could get and give you that.

I have said the same thing many times but no one will listen

Cryril uses very expensive gimmicks a lot of the time. I like his version of 'Spooked'

As Stephen said, unless you feel like dropping massive cash, you won't be performing Cyril's effects anytime soon.

To be honest, you need to worry less about making a reputation for yourself. Spend time refining your craft. You have a very strong passion for magic, which is clearly evident, and that alone is very inspiring. It will help you in the future.

But, I have to be 100% honest. I don't think you are entirely ready for actual live performances, at least in a professional sense. Your past contributions show you learning an effect, and then hastily trying to create variations on them, without first gaining a true understanding of the effect itself.

As far as effects go, you can make a great reputation for yourself using something like the Raven. However - if you go out and buy that tomorrow, then go out two days later and try to perform - the only reputation you'll build, is that of a bad magician.

We all want to knock people's socks off, bro. I feel you on this. But you need to be patient and let your ability catch up to your drive. I'm in the same boat, right now. I want so badly to run out and fry people with Greed. I've been practicing for HOURS on end to get the handling smooth. But I know it's not ready - and it won't be for quite some time.

Think about all of the time and money you're investing in your craft. All of this dedication requires work and practice. Just knowing the secret isn't enough. You have seen feedback on your effects. Some of the people have mentioned needing work. Remember - these are comments from magicians. 75-85% of us know how to do what you're doing. We give you criticism on the handling and performance. For instance - if you went out to a gig and performed your coin in soda can routine, your reactions won't be quite so generous. A lay audience has no regard for what kind of effort you have made. Nor should they. The only thing they know is:

1 - It was good

2 - It was bad

And they react accordingly. So. To sum this up. Keep working on what you already have and have been practicing. Do you really want to sell yourself short? I don't think you do. Keep at it, and you'll get there.

Ok, let's look at that one particular line and wiegh what it says...

You have a "reputation"... for being overly eager, impatient, and wanting to mimic those you've seen on Tv rather than actually learning how to do magic and being your own "man" as it were. So you need to ask yourself if this is the kind of reputation you want.

Would you rather have the kind of reputation in which you are respected for being self-reliant, dependable, creative, resourceful and practical? A reputation for doing "miracles" with virtually anything that's available?

How about a reputation for being a solid ENTERTAINER? or maybe an effective communicator?

What is the reputation you want?

You can't be Criss Angel or David Blaine, we already have those. You're pretty much stuck being who you are... do you know who that is? Do you know how to take that person and mold him into the kind of performer you think you want to be?

Before you worry too much about the reputation and "getting known" I think maybe you need to spend a couple of years actually learning your craft and perfecting the material your want to present so that the reputation you create is a positive one about a kid that's good at what he does, who is amusing and mesmerizing as well as intelligent. Otherwise the reputation you will end up having is that of being the typical wannabe that just gets tricks to do tricks instead of one that's serious and dedicated enough to master the presentation and technique together in order to create something that is genuinely magical.

It don't happen over night, it takes years of study and many long hours of practice, discipline, and ardent dedication.

Yet again Mr Brown tells it as it is!

From what I see in your posts MMF, you move from one extreme to the other without appearing to have perfected anything.

That's just how it looks to me.

all i have to say is work on the delivery of what you know already. you will then turn a simple card trick into someting very entertaining.
also for street stuff just look u close u effects and see if you can adapt them tp your style.
And for reputation, just don't come over as a smart ass and people will respect you a little more and will want to see more of your wonder work
