One more quick Raven question...

Postby card_shark_2006 » Jun 29th, '06, 17:29

Hi, I have heard that you can only vanish/appear a coin 2 times without stalling with "The Raven". I wanted to know for example, if you could vanish a coin twice, walk into a bathroom *reset* it in like 1-3 minutes and go back out and vanish/appear coins again? I wish to know this because I am still a little skeptical about buying it, but this question should give me the final decision. Thanks!
:D

Yes, you can reset it after a few seconds in private! I have practiced reseting it with my hand inside my pocket, and I can do it in about 10 - 15 seconds.

I hope this helps.

Have a look at my review for 'The SUbterfuge Magic System' or SMS, can easily disappear as many coins as you want and reset can be about 1-3 seconds, i can probably do it in under a second. http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic10867.php

You need sleeves though, that's the only bad part. SMS can be used without a top and or trousers on, if you wanted  i suppose maybe if it was very hot :D

I havn't personally got the raven but i have a load of friends at school that know everything about it. if i was to do a coin vanish they would look for the sleeves and watch them move. The SMS uses a bit of misdirection but i think it truly is amazing, when you start palying with it you'll see. i have been practising for a while but only got round to performing it to my mum last night [I've had the SMS for about 2 months i think]. I got an amazing reaction and was wearing a t-shirt.

The SMS can be bought from the official website, http://www.subterfugemagic.com and i would reccomend NOT getting it off eBay at all, trust me. The oens they are selling are not the newest version. The SMS can be bought from some other online magic shops but i'd reccomend buying it from their site as they are VERY helpfull and will give you extra privalages like accesing a private aprt of the forum.

Ok, thanks. I'm gonna check it out for sure. I've already bought the "Raven Deluxe Kit" but it hasn't arrived. I'll have to look into the SMS though. :D

Just to clarify, you do not need sleeves to use the Raven, you can use the shirt method (described in the instructions) I prefer the sleeve method though, and when people ask to look up your sleeves just pull them up moving any gimmick up with them!!! Can SMS do the key bend routine as the Ravenx2 does?

Ok, I do not own the SMS but own the Ravenx2 when my package came I was very dissapointed and did not like it one bit! but after using it on several random strangers it has earned it's keep!

It is a fantastic piece of kit when used well and sparingly!!!

Umm, maybe you could explain in a PM what the key bend is? Does it just bend a key? Then i could tell you. I do know the raven gets good reactions, i know everyhting about it but i just don't own one. I bought the SMS as i wnated somethign differnt, and all of my friends known about the raven.

I brought the raven, but i never use it, because of the sleeve problem, if anyone is interested they can swap or buy it off me.

Sleeves are't (or shouldn't be) an issue with Raven.
