So that was the experiment - it was the heart that responded first and sent messages to the brain's emotional centres which then prepared the body to take action.

That's weird. I would have thought the heart would have reacted on instruction from the brain. Kind of like your heart pumping faster when you get scared.

There's a Japanese film about someone getting a cornea transplant from someone who either was a murderer or saw a murder, that was pretty creepy.

I guess if this thing about having memories from the heart were true, it might alter the way you react in emotional situations to the way the previous owner of the heart did. This stuff is one of the reasons why donating body organs really freaks me out. I feel kinda selfish not being a donor, but the idea of someone walking around using one of my bodyparts is just too weird for me.

I wouldn't like to be a donor either. Maybe my blood, but that's about as far as I would go. Don't suppose anyone would want any of my limbs and organs though anyway .

For anyone who is interested, there is a programme tonight, the second in this Mindshock series, about Parasomnia - something which forms the basis of one of my biggest OCD anxieties, sleepwalking and doing things in your sleep - nothing like on the programme though, my worry is that I will gamble away my money.

It looks like quite an interest programme though.

Well, A friend of mine wouldn't be here on account of cancer if it wasn't for a liver transplant last December, so I'm bound to disagree with you guys about transplants. Besides, if transplants do carry on the personality of the original owner, you might live on...

Oh, absolutely, I'm not saying that they're not worthwhile...Heavens no, they do a lot of good. Merely that I wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

Same here! No doubt that they do save lives etc, just I'd rather have my organs rot all together thanks. Now there's a nice mental image for you.

Maybe my blood, but that's about as far as I would go

I want to donate my blood, but they don't want it :(

That's a whole 'nother debate, one probably best kept away from

I think it's quite creepy that we're going to get to the point where most body parts can be exchanged.

I once discovered quite by chance (I didn't have him under hypnosis, honest!) that 'My Heart Will Go On' is an old mate of mine's favourite song. Not even a groovy danced-up version, either. Yuck!
