Craig, personally I would take anything that was stated by anyone with any associations with US government on environmenal issues with a rather large sackful of salt.
I just presented sources of data, and as I said in my first post I fully agree that we are producing a lot of greenhouse gasses (though the major producers are still rainforests, whilst our cattle come in a close second I think, without looking up any figures)
The fact is, the Earth is a far more robust system than the life on it, if it heats up and everything dies then so what? It happened before we turned up and it will happen again when humanity is extinct. A vast number of the effects of global warming are part of positive feedback cycles that take quite a lot to overload.
And the Solar activity cycles are real, and I believe the temperature data to be real, though I haven't verified it myself, so if I am missing anything in my interpretation of it then I would be grateful if you could point it out
