Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

never mind its a setup

This is directly from Ellusionist on the Ultimate Card Through Window page:

[Ellusionist note: please be aware that the majority of the tricks in this DVD involve a setup, sometimes a set up that involves building a gimmick. The DVD is a worthy investment to the magician who can be broadminded while watching, take what he gets, and get value out of the 'Outside the Box' methods delivered in Ultimate Card Through Window.]

It's going to involve somewhat of a set-up...Especially with a trick like this. You can almost always guarentee a set-up, everytime.

Thanks,

and she looked painfully thin - Maybe he magically vanished her body fat! "for my next trick I'm gonna make you look like a beanpole!" you never know magic liposuction it could catch on!

If it was acting then it was extremely bad acting!

So perhaps what he did wasn't 'Ultimate card Thru' and it was something else which gave a similar result?

If what he did wasn't in fact ultimate card thru window its a bit misleading as the word ultimate implies that its the best and there can't be anything better than it. How do you know her signature was on the card after he threw them at the window? she doesn't show the card to the camera. She might have just been humouring him by not drawing attention that her signature wasn't on the card that went through the window

It was on the card.

And actually, I can think of a way of doing this which wouldn't involve any stooges or acting (except for on the magician's part).

MiniMindFreak,

People have tried to point you in the right direction as nuch as they can on these forums.

Why not concentrate on some of the things you have got, or read/watch some books or DVD's and learn something from them. You seem to want to ask about every gimmick etc that has ever come out, then whinge if the replies don't suit you.

Save yourself some money, learn how to PERFORM, not just do, some of the things you have got, read etc.

I have read some good advice, which I have taken.

GEt MWCCIM and Tarbell.

Learn from these.

Practise

Learn a routine where you can put on YOUR OWN performance, not just follow someone elses scrript or instructions.

Practice.

Work out what you you want to achieve from your routine.

Decide what you want to use to achieve the effect you are after.

Script.

Practice.

Practice performing.

Change your script again until you are happy it is the best it can be.

Practice.

Perform.

Do all the above again and again.

I think Mini mindfreak's comments are funny. You're right she was a stooge and she handed a different card to the magician and while he was squaring up the cards she opened the window and stuck it to the outside window and then sat back down and it was behind her head so nobody saw it

He's got it wrong anyway Lawrence.

There is no window at the begining. The card has IT on it. It is attatched to a fishing line which runs from a crane. The card is lifted up by the crane, which is also holding a pane of glass. The crane driver then runs along to the end of the crane, sticks the card to the window, then lowers the pane of glass. There must be easier ways.

my last post was meant to be tongue in cheek :P of course I wouldn't expose how he did that but it wasn't how I said cause the other spectators would have seen her open the window and stick it on the other side

Thats okay I was in a funny mood after reading what mini mindfreak said. At least if he doesn't make it as a magician he can become a comedian instead

Quite true. There's a story about when Pizza Hut produced the Ultimate Pizza with every topping imaginable and advertised it as 'The Ultimate' One guy phoned to order it but asked for extra cheese on it thus proving it wasn't 'ultimate' at all!
