PK matches

Postby the_mog » Jul 9th, '03, 16:31

The Effect Crafted by a professional special effects artist these invisibly altered matches are designed for use with systems like the Micro-5 PK kit. Each has a steel core within the actual wooden matchstick itself!
With a bit of practice these little wonders can be “puppeted” to stand to attention, dance, weave around, fall on command, nod, point and even vanish in the blink of an eye!!!

Four (4) matches come with each pack; 2x brown headed ‘safety’ matches and 2x red headed “Swan Vesta” types

Cost £6 form emagictricks.co.uk

Difficulty 1
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review does what it says on the tin.... well constructed gaff matches

Overall10/10

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

I have a quick question, if anybody has an answer I would be grateful.

Can I burn the ends of these matches, ie, can i light one without giving the gaff away? Not in front of the spectator but so I can lay a "used" match in an ashtray and pick it at random?

thanks in advance
I have many holes in my thumb now and I've long since given up, these sound great and I find it impossible to do this myself, so regardless of answer, thanks Tom, good work.

I haven't actually done it, but can see absolutely no reason why not, in fact I'd go further I'd be stunned if you couldn't.

Quick answer while I put my hat and coat on - if you burn these you'll probably ruin them. How about just using a black marker pen to change the colour of the end to look like a used match? A bit of spit, sorry saliva, and some ash will make it look very realistic.

I used to do this with ordinary matches so I could pick up a 'random' used match, tell folks it looked like a good one, strike it again and say, 'Yup it was a good 'un - shame I used it!' or something daft. Works great when everyone has had too much to drink!

Mandrake I can't believe that lighting it and instantly blowing it out would ruin it. Then again I'm not going to waste one of mine to find out

surely the point is to,let someone pick a match from there own match box which you then switch, after the trick you switch back and they get there match or you can then use it for burnt and restored napkin trick.

Thanks all for the input :)

What I'm thinking is using the match out of the trashtray and then when somebody says, er use one of these, I use the other from the pack to switch. Or something like that.
I only thought about this as once when making a cig dance I was offered a viewers cig to do it with, ever since to combat this ive had a used cig in the ashtray that I use first then a unburnt cig I switch with after saying, good but rather small, whos got a cig I can have?
I then say ill smoke it afterwards to prove it, this gets rid of their cig, lets me have a fag and lets me be a little specific about which brands Ill use. Menthol obviously being white tipped are useless etc.
Prolly over complicating things but in manchester, people like to watch magic to catch you out as much as to enjoy it, lol.
