i've just found out Syd Barrett has died. The originator of The Pink Floyd...

Im a huge fan of the first album, true experimentation, and something unique to listen to. Original lyrics...the madcap's laugh will echo tonight...

If your musical knowledge of Pink Floyd starts at The Dark Side of the Moon, then i recommend "The Pipers at the Gates of Dawn"...knocks the spots off Sargent Peppers if you ask me...which you didn't...anyway...

yup...though he suffered lots of mental illness, the majority self-inflicted, he still was a major influence on music in my opinion...even if you hated them...
